This is why this country was founded (in theory, anyway) as a representative republic, NOT a democracy...

I was able to vote from my work computer, home computer and iPad all in the same day though. I thought that was interesting.

No voting integrity. :)

Game's still tomorrow, right? Awful quiet around here. Shall we talk a little hockey or is that boring?

Some quick thoughts: #2 needs to step up. He had a quiet to crappy two games at The Garden. I love #16's physicality. More of that without the penalty minutes please. OC will need to be mentally tough. He might go long stretches between shots.

Your turn.

Trying not to think about it. At all. Because....I can't. I just.....*sigh* Help me!!

#2 needs to step up.

Funny you should mention that. I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that. I was going to use the word "invisible," actually. Regarding it being quiet, I think (not to make excuses) that people are busy at work today because they're (I know I am) taking tomorrow off. Also, there's really not a whole lot more to say. There can be no more lapses...we have to play at the peak of our game from here on out. I'm getting "jacked and pumped" (as Pete Carroll would say). :)

I expect a Frozen Four trip after this weekend, starting with tomorrow. Given the talent the team is putting on the ice, nothing less is acceptable. So far Quinn's teams have demostrated the ability to show up in the few big games they've played thus far, unlike the previous regime where playoff flameouts due to lack of effort/motivation/hang overs were commonplace.

It's a well-known joke that my "predictions" never turn out so I will refrain from making any. But I agree with what you say... :)

Thanks. I'm not predicting a title because I haven't seen the western teams. I recall back in 2000 I believe thinking no team could outstake BC...only to watch North Dakota do just that. For our bracket though not making it would be a big, big disappointment no matter how hot an opponent's goalie might get. When you have the best college hockey player in 20 years on your team, for one year only, you really better f#$@ing take advantage of it.

Remembering, of course, that it is a team game.

Looking back at BU's last regional in Manchester 2009, I'm guessing Friday's game with Yale is certain to be more like the final against UNH than the first game against Ohio State.

Yeah, but BC got 'em the next year...

Absolutely...Eichel has been mum about his plans...I've heard everything across the board but also remember the other pieces, so this is the year...

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Eichel has what I consider to be a slightly surprising weakness (IMHO), at least relative to his overall skill level. I think it could actually play to our favor against Yale, in a strange way. He's not really a great pure one-on-one goal scorer. When you consider how otherwordly he is when it comes to his speed, strength, and passing, his scoring touch is more average. He has 4 goals in the last two games, but against UNH, one was a scramble in front of the net (thanks to his great effore to get the puck to O'Regan) and one was into an empty net. Against UML, his first was somewhat fluky (he was trying to pass it over to O'Regan, the defensman blocked it into his own net). His second goal was nice, admittedly (some might argue he sort of whiffed on this shot, but I won't get picky). It seems like for all the chances her creates for himself, if he ends up in a one-on-one with the goalie, his results aren't as good as I would expect.

Anyway, my point is that if he was all about one-one-one goals, a very good goalie could easily get the better of him. But the way his goals and assists are so often the result of odd man rushes (which are usually the result of his ridiculous speed), even the best goalies are not going to be able to do a whole lot with those.

And yeah, Ahti is going to have to step up. If he can't get open for a shot, he tends to not have much of an impact on games.

Yeah, but here's the thing about the UNH game: The Wildcats literally threw everything they could at Kieran Millan. They also had James Van Riemsdyk and a pretty talented first line. I don't know if Yale has that type of firepower. And though looking back on the game on college hockey stats, KM faced a ridiculous 10 shots in the second (as opposed to 4 for BU), he had to stand on his head in the third, when UNH had some insane 2-on-1 and 3-on-1 rushes. Also, looking back on the video, the difference between UNH in 09 and BU this year is that if the BU top line is on a 3-on-1 rush, they're going to pass at least twice to take advantage of an out-of-position goalie, as opposed to taking the hard shot.

BU's a really good third period team this year, and we've seen that, if one team is going to get winded in the third, it won't be BU.

Then again, don't take Yale lightly. Somehow, I don't think DQ will let them.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Defkit. Right again! Danny and Evan are better finishers. I wanna see Ahti blast a few one timers in the PP tomorrow. He has one of the best shots in D1.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

All I can see from the stats is that Yale is the counter to every one of BU's strengths. Suffocating defense with a very good goalie. Great penalty kill and takes very few penalties to begin with. My fear here is that inexperience/nerves cause BU to have a bad start and give up 2 goals in the first. Do they lose their composure if they go down by a goal and exacerbate the situation. With a goalie as good as Yale's can BU come back from a 2 goal deficit? I do have to say I'm happy to not be concerned about them easing off if they get ahead and opening the door for a comeback. That was the worst part about watching the teams of recent history.

Does anyone know much of anything about how Yale plays? Are they big? Fast? Do they score in the dirty areas or do they have snipers? Breakaway scoring (capitalizing on mistakes) or good zone presence and passing/positioning?

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Yale is 0-8 when allowing 3 goals or more. BU needs to score at least 3 goals tomorrow.

I have to stop reading this and the region thread. I'm getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too anxious.
