Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Yes...but what he's saying is that you could actually leave the arena in the middle of the game (or between periods, whatever...) to go across the street to a pub and then come back in. Pretty cool...

I got that part but I'd be worried to miss some of the game leaving the arena(not sure how big the arena is). I need a beer(or other drink) in my seat so I don't miss a second of the action. That's pretty wild that only 1 arena in all of HEA has booze.

I was wrong. Lowell serves (Who knew!) and UConn (new to HE this season) is playing in an off-campus arena presently and also serves. That's it.

I just looked at the Pairwise page. I don't know how recently it's been updated, but BU is 12 and 3 this season against top 20 teams.

Those of us who've seen lots of games know how bad they looked for a period or two in many of those games, but it adds up to a more impressive record than it often seemed at the time.

Maybe it's parity: a bunch of good teams, but no truly great ones. Of course, we haven't seen the Sioux yet.

Well, the Tap was no more than 40 yards from the seats in The Arena. 15 minutes between periods. If you had your wits about you, and we're committed to the task, it was a 2 beer pause.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

I thought he did a great job (DVR'd it, watched all segments this morning). He looked a little nervous, but not as much as most would have been. I thought he said that the 100 goals were a Squirt year, which is typically 9 and 10 year olds, so 4th and 5th grade usually. Lots of mention by Buccigross of other Terriers during the conversing - in addition to Grzelcyk: Rodrigues, O'Regan, AJ Greer (who was there with him).

Lots of great PR...

Guys, really- take a step back and think about this: a BU Hockey player CO-HOSTED SportsCenter. How cool is that?!

I know we've been following all season, but in reality, 95% of people watching SC last night had never heard of him before. That's not just one highlight of a Beanpot goal PR, that's huge.

Oh the things you'll find....

I don't remember how exactly I found this, but it was buried in my Favorites for about a month and I just remembered it.

This goes by in a flash, but it's a fun look back....

Footage from BU-BC game at WBA on 1-22-1977, shot from, it looks like, Section 5 or 6? Game ended in a 6-6 overtime tie. First two BU goals shown are from Bob Boileau and Rick Meagher? Last BC goal shown is from Brian Burns? Goalies were Jim Craig and Paul Skidmore? Sean Pickett may have to confirm the above.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

just read this in the umo thread:

Alleged? It was pretty well proven. And no, that's not why the university didn't want Jimmy. Look at it from their perspective: They had turned the women's basketball program over to a former star and that was a dumpster fire that cost the school a ton of money and goodwill with the fans. WBB was a revenue sport at one time and the school desperately needs them. Now along comes the Men's Ice Hockey program, the chief revenue sport for the school. Were they going to hand it over to an alumnus who hadn't coached at the college level before? The situations weren't the same, and you'll hear people swear Monty was qualified and would have brought such excitement to see him back at his alma mater. You think people weren't psyched to see Cindy at the helm of the WBB she brought to prominence? Now not only was WBB a disaster, but the program's #1 alumna was a pariah. What would have happened if Monty had come here and failed? Couple that with the skeleton Jimmy had in his own closet and Maine's desire not to have the athletics department turned upside down again like happened in 94 and 95 and you see why the school didn't want him. I have heard from people in the know that if he had come back to Maine a certain coach who was nearing the end of his tenure would have called his pals in Indianapolis and reported said skeleton. Monty coming back here (at this time) was not going to happen. Maybe in the future, but Denver can throw a lot of money at him and their history (and current position) are a bit better than Maine's.

ol' priceless isn't claiming OUR certain coach was going to ping them AGAIN?!?!?! is he :p

Was at that game as a student it was on a Sat afternoon televised on Ch 7. Some wild games that year including the 8-7 Or 7-6 win in quarters when Meagher and Mullen put on a show. BC unis with yellow helmets and old style eagle was a much better look same with the Terrier dog on BUs have no ideas why they didn't keep that

These may be the first references to Mike Pidgeon and John Fox on any BU thread on this site.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Anyone happen to know of any watch parties happening in Boston? BU was kind enough to send out locations for watch parties in a few other cities around the country, but I've not seen anything about a gathering in the Boston area besides the one with a $400 cover and $12 beers that doesn't show replays.

Do you think BU would open Agganis to alums, in addition to students?

Is that from the Globe account, or does Mookie have BU boxscores going back to the George Gaw era, in which case I'll buy Mookie dinner at Capital Grille to see your treasure trove. ;)

But I think Mr. Pickett shames us all with Terrier facts and figures.
