Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Rodrigues was also given the ESPN Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week.

Sean

If I may nitpick for a second... impact is such a stupid word to use in that sentence. It does nothing to describe, and just blusters the entire thing.

"I had the performance of the week!"
"But was it the IMPACT performance of the week?"
"No."
"Oh."

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Does Capital One use the word IMPACT in their marketing campaigns right now? If they do, that's why its there.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Given his role on the team, no one does his job better or more consistently as Matt Lane.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

During practice the next two weeks, can the coaching staff tie O'Connor into the crease, and tell him to stay there when forecheckers are in the zone? He was getting a little to handle-happy behind the net, and I thought that was going to bite BU in the azz.

And I hope Fortunato's takes a class in making a clean pass, not surrendering the puck under the slightest pressure and holding onto your stick while in the D zone.

This.

Great strength and balance for a smaller forward. When Quinn talks about the need for "gritty" goals (or greasy ones, as JP called them), it's Lane whose most likely to deliver.

Did anyone hear details about the injuries to #13 and #16?

The timing of Hohmann sliding into the postgame celebration is perfect. He plays real hard, but he does blow a tire more often than most players. That fact that he did at the high point of the entire season lends a comic aspect to his 4 seasons at BU.

I remember it like it was yesterday the last time BU made the FF IN BOSTON. 1974 against Minnesota when I was a sophomore. It's unbelievable that we have a chance to win this here, 45 years (yikes) later! I have a real good feeling about this...can't wait for April 9!!

Ok, before I lay out my thoughts, this post is simply a broadcast to say I'm looking for tickets. :D:D (along with many other people I am sure).

I know - there is likely a separate thread for that, but I'm starting with the good guy thread.

no luck through TLP's?

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Some random thoughts from watching some of the other games:

- What is the deal with the horrid lighting in Providence. Perhaps it looked better in person, but on TV, the lighting around the edges of the ice surface looked terrible. I saw the Buccigross tweeted that it's just bad lighting. Also mentioned it on the broadcast.
- That Miami near-comeback would certainly have been one for the history books. Three extra-attacker goals in the last half of the this period, and SO close to a tying goal in the waning moment.
- Sort of stinks that the #2 and #3 overall seeds have to play each other in the semis, while the other pairing has nobody higher than #6 left.
- Major choke-job by Mankato. What was RIT in the Pairwise - 38?

Don't have any....haven't had season tickets since 7 years after graduating ('97). Moved away to Atlanta the next year, then kids showed up, then back to Atlanta.

I basically hit up Scarlet and Bomber for tickets when I need them :D:D:D

I may jump back in soon, but youth hockey tends to conflict frequently. For example - my son has two playoff games scheduled: 4/9 an 4/11 :eek:

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

fortunato has 29 (29!!!!) sog this season. incredibly enough he had 4 in each of the 2 hea qf games vs merrimack.

DoR needs 2 more goals for 50.

eichel needs 12pts/game to match kariya's freshman total (vs actual ncaa competition that is).

ah ha... my pee wee told me last night that he might have playoffs issues for thursday and saturday. he is still unsure whether he wants to play, or come along and see the boys win another title.

Re: BU 2014-15 season threat III - Jasmine gets to see us 4 more times

Now onto the game (from the TV perspective, last night on DVR delay, starting at midnight!):

- Overall a great game. Very little has come easy for these guys lately, but they are winning the close games. I'm hoping that helps them against North Dakota.
- Two of the most amazing goals for Rodrigues. While the first one certainly involved some luck, it still looked incredible. And the second one was pure poise and skill.
- Haven't seen the other threads yet, I assume there are complaints about the penalty call. I don't like winning on PPGs late, but there is no doubt in my mind it was a hold/tackle. It stood out since there had been so few called.
- I was pretty stunned that the officials had the guts to not call a penalty on Somerby on that monster hit. Most Hockey East refs would have called that a major and misconduct.
- We really need MacLeod back. More ice time for Fortunato is not good for my heart health.
- I've been wondering for some time, if Quinn would put O'Regan on the draw for critical draws late in games, in place of Eichel, since Danny has a better percentage. He did so at least twice last night. I was glad to see it.
- Speaking of Eichel, certainly not the level of performance we have seen from him lately for these two games. I imagine it has something to do with how closely he is being defended.
- I was thrilled to see Piccinich play a big role in a big goal. It has to be tough to come in and find yourself on the bench as the team goes on it's stretch run. To come in and make a play like that has to be hugely satisfying for him. And of course, Lane with a sweet move to score on it.

What a season! No doubt the toughest test yet awaits.

bomber's favorite globe hockey reporter tweeted that there was a near incident under the stands between the officials and some unnamed umd folks. she typed arena security had to jump in and defuse the situation.
