Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

From the Boston Hockey Blog, take it for what its worth: David Quinn said there was nothing to Sam Kurker and Brendan Collier being added to USHL rosters, and they will both play Sat. vs. Harvard

The offer code DOES work but the $10 seat turns into $16.25 with fees. Silly. Where did you find the offer code? I looked and couldn't find it. Without it the tickets were $30 per.

I got an email. Not as a season ticket holder, but as an alumni. (My season tickets are with a group and not under my name.)

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

O'Regan and Grzelcyk (one of three US MVPs at WJCs) are in tonight's line-up. Hohmann back, too. Kurker and Collier on the fourth line. OC in goal.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

To me the lineup, as presented tonight does not look as if it should be particularly weak.... I'm hoping as everyone gets back and settled in that we can find a little mojo. When did those guys get back from the WJC's? Perhaps some jet lag and tired legs going on there.

That and Harvard's roster is on average 6 months older. Seriously...what's the deal with all the SHGs against this season? Seems like one a game.

Will bu win 10 games this yr?

It's about a bleak a situation as I have seen in the 41 yrs watching the team . From forwards to d to goalies. Recruiting looks great going forward but it looks like the program has bottomed out and the gap between BU and BC never greater from the bottom position anyway. BU hockey has been becoming irrelevant but never more so then this year. I know everyone expects me to say something like this but I will say that Eichel will never make it here my feeling . Also BU is clearly the worst program in the city now wow can you imagine. !

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Quinn will be good in the long run. However, I'm disappointed in his approach for this year. I got the sense that he thought this was a lost season a few months in. The fact of the matter is this team has more talent than their record shows

Jack would have these guys up near the top of Hockey East, right?

And why won't Eichel don the Scarlet and White? Because we suck? Using that logic, how did Metimack or Providence of
Northeastern ever get a quality player to show up?

The sky is falling!!!!! Fire everybody!!

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

could probably beat umass-boston

It would probably be a good game though

Do you mean the 2013-2014 season or the 2014 calendar year?

The program has "had more talent than their record has shown" for years. Every year people talk about how good the incoming recruit(s) is/are. And every year recently players from BU reach the NHL. So why is the team underperforming so much?

But anyway, BU's powerplay percentage is the best in the conference so mission accomplished right? Maybe they should try practicing even strength now.

I dont put it on Quinn at this point. Eichel is at a very elite level he could not come for other reasons but the fact that the program is in a losing mode certainly would play against BU when decisions are made. My only two points are that I dont remember the program being this low and I have a feeling that Eichel will not matriculate to BU, crappy program or not. Did I mention firing anybody?

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

For those who think Eichel won't come to BU, where do you think he's going?

Another NCAA program? - I suppose it is possible, but it was pretty clear that BC has a more successful history over the past 15 years when he made his decision to come to BU. I can't see one truly "bad" season making him change his mind. Tony Amonte's freshman season followed two straight 14 win seasons. He took us to the FF as a freshman. That team had talent in McEachern, Joe Sacco, Dave Tomlinson, but things weren't clicking. This team has some talented players (O'Regan, Baillergeon, Roberto). The infusion of Eiche's talent, not to mention some other good players in his own class would have this team in a much better position right from the get go.

Major Junior? - The fact that his original MJ team gave up his rights speaks volumes about his commitment to play NCAA hockey. Could he still change his mind? Sure. I don't see it happening.

USHL? - Not sure what this would accomplish for him.

Perhaps I'm overly optimistic, but I just don't see him jumping ship. BU has a lot to offer, and if the fact that he won't be joining a good team causes him to rethink coming here, well I think he would be underestimating the potential he has to impact the direction of the program.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

i think he'll come for one year. we get him before his draft summer. once that happens, "thanks and good luck". but i'm looking forward to next year to see him play close up.

do you really think the gap is greater now than it was say the five years before York vs what BU was doing at that same time? just my opinion but I don't think so
