BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

......The one positive last night was that Quinn's focus on bad penalties seems to have their attention. I was happy not to see a bunch of frustration penalties after the game got out of hand.

I noticed that as well. Except for MacGregor's foolish penalty, BU played discipline hockey the rest of the game. A bit different from the past BU teams I have seen at Alfond Arena.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Was last night the definition of quinning? ;)

Meh, the team will come along in time and he is starting to pile up some very good recruits. 7-0 to Maine is pathetic but my hopes this year were not that high.

One aspect to Quinning I like is the reduction in stupid penalties. Goonan seems to have returned to Noonan as he only has 4 penalties so far, all minors.

Quite different to that goon-aspiring duo of Matheson and Santini! Yikes on Santini. Just came back from suspension and took some kid's head off?! Does a third DQ result in a season-ending suspension or does that just correspond to fighting DQs?

I read that this is the worst Terrier loss since Feb 1995? Wow, I don't remember them losing so badly THAT season!?

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

You guys always get very good recruits though

Matheson defininitely has some "goon" in him but give me a break on santini. The call last night was a joke. Shoulder to shoulder is not taking someone's head off. Note they didn't even call a penalty related to elbowing/contact to the head. He simply hit somebody too hard. When you do that and a guy gets hurt, these refs lose what little competency they had to begin with.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Terrence's inane posts did the trick!

Well on the bright side BC's tie to Umass has to make BU fans feel better about their win against Umass right? Can't even beat Umass at home huh? Such a shame, I thought BC was supposed to be good this year.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Why was Ryan on the 3rd line? His play hasn't improved from last week. Why not Collier? He at least knows how to play the position.

Ryan can skate. But at this point, I don't see what else that he adds, either on D or as a wing.
He was badly exposed on D in the home game against PC. And if he is playing on the third forward line, that is a huge indictment of BU's forwards.

I know that depth at forward is a big problem this year. But come on ...
Maybe he can develop into another Rosen, since both can skate.
But that'd be as a fourth line checker.

Bottom line is our forwards haven't been doing the job. Even the ones that are supposed to be good.
Lane is the one returnee playing better than a year ago. Where has that Hohmann been? O'Regan and Rodrigues just haven't been as productive as we'd expect, at this point. Kurker has been playing both ends better, but without production.
Baillargeon and Roberto are going to be fine. They already are.

Of the returning defenseman, only Oksanen has played better than a year ago. He has clearly been the team's best player so far.

The last couple of games have been big steps backward. Let's see if they can take a step forward against a UConn team that they should have a lot of advantages against. But UConn has never played at BU before, and they should be smelling blood in the water and are going to want to make a big impression.

fyp. :)

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Man no goal calls going their way, diving, unsportsmanlike conduct, game disqualifications. Looks like BC is doing their best BU impression this week. Only thing left for them to do now is come in fourth in the Beanpot and miss the tournament.

Or rather - PC 8 Kaj Linna 1. He scored the only goal and was the best player that night. The next day I bought a new red car and BU never lost a game the rest of the season en route to a national championship.

How many miles you got on the current one? Big Thanksgiving sale coming up.

When BC plays badly, they tie UMass, when BU plays badly, they lose 7-0 to Maine. Which program do you think is better?

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Take it easy on our boys tonight

Only if you guys take it easy on ours in the bball game this afternoon. Though something tells me you don't have to worry about a blowout in the game tonight. Interesting weekend for BU though. Two games and all three head coaches involved are in their first year with their respective teams.

Re: BU 2013-2014: Ready to Quinn

Meant to post this sooner: the students who came to the game Friday night and sat in BB should be recognized. They were polite, enthusiastic, good-humored and fun to be around. Those who follow me on twitter have seen the picture of the group. Of course the student section from Maine drowned out any chant they tried, but they conducted themselves well. As the game got out of hand they remained positive. At one point they sarcastically did a "scoreboard" chant and later did a "we want chicken" chant. Compared with other Hockey East fans *cough* Merrimack *cough* they were a delight. A true credit to the school. Please come back anytime!

And with that I will now go back to hating BU :p
