BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Patriot league almost always has a higher conference ranking than America East and Patriot League team in NCAA tournament is almost always a higher seed than the America East Bid.

Certainly a more impressive roster of schools BU was lucky to get in the conf considering they don't really meet the prototype of the other schools. I do disagree that basketball wise from the top they have been any better. I think some of the VT and Albany teams have been better and a couple of the BU teams as well . HC has been down otherwise they would be a difference maker . The best in prior years out of this league I think has been Bucknell which we see on Sunday. It's certainly better seeing these teams come in to town

In the "if they didn't have bad luck they'd have no luck" department.....the hockey flew out this morning at 10:30, due to fog got diverted to Louisville. Took off, got diverted to Indianapolis. Took off to St Louis, and just landed in Chicago. Now they have a 2 hr drive to South Bend.

Not to ruin the ending of your story, but wasn't Chicago their original destination?

BU - Notre Dame is on NBC sports tonight? WooHoo! No curling. Looking forward to watching. Sort of.

They used up 5 years' worth of good luck on a Saturday night in DC. Still better than being on a flu-stricken long bus ride back to Grand Forks...

In hindsight and if feasible, it would've been easier to deplane in Indy & bus it to S. Bend from there.

This happened a bit before my time, but Bob Crocker, an assistant under Jack Kelley, once told me about a return trip from Colby in Maine when the bus broke down in the middle of nowhere on a frigid night. Players had to make a bonfire with their sticks.
