Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

What was the justification from tv for disallowing it? Absolute robbery to not allow that goal. I expected 4-1 and turned it back to see 3-2.

The reason given was that Rodrigues made contact with the goalie before the puck went in. TV guys weren't buying it.

There are good ties and bad ties.

That one was felt like a bad tie.

Although being outshot something like 49-22, maybe it was a good tie.

I had no dog in tonight's fight but the caliber of officiating was an embarrassment to the league--and on national TV no less. Time for a purge of the entrenched old guard, starting with Jack Millea, who has earned a reputation for calling things that aren't there, not calling things that are and, oh yeah, quick whistles.

good luck

didn't... but kinda sorta hafta support the boys, no?

At $24 per ticket plus $12 parking and $8.03 beers for an 8/9 seed playoff game? I think I'll pick skiing that weekend instead.

If they were doing the playoffs correctly, that would be an away series at BC then we wouldn't have to think about it.

I'm going to have to agree here... I watched on and off and saw two phantom calls, one for each team right in succession. The interference on the faceoff when Yevenko got in O'Regan's way was terrible and not long after that BU got a nice phantom call. This was a total screw job by not allowing that BU goal to stand in the third period. 4-1 and this game is over and Umass packs up the tents and calls it a night.

These guys officiating in this league are absolute buffoons.

you don't park on the street?!?! craaaaaazeeeee!! :D

I just turned the game off when an obvious goal for BU went to review. How in the heck was that goal not put on the board for BU's 4th goal when the puck went in well before the net came off the pegs on that partial break-in?

They don't even get the video review calls anymore used to be their staple

This season is so pathetic we are getting pity from the BC folk now I am sure that the "rivalry" has jumped the shark

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

"For no apparent reason."

That's BU's year. Typical.

Can I get that on a t-shirt? Oooh, or a pillow. That would be nice.

BU Hockey: If it weren't for bad breaks, we'd get no breaks at all. Who are we kidding, we just suck.

Just watched DVR, no explanation given on TV and Quinn said after the game the officials never even came over to explain anything to him. Only thing I can think of is intent to blow, but that would be an extreme stretch.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

As someone pointed out below, a little while after play resumed, the announcers said they were told it was not allowed because Rodrigues made contact with the goalie before the puck went in. It was complete BS.

Tough way to lose/tie, but the shot discrepancy shows that even against a team like UMass, we are overmatched and relying too much on our goalies.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

quinn had some critical comments about officials in the herald
