BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

As someone who is completely neutral, I think it would make York and Eichel look pretty bad. York just pulled this same stunt a couple months ago with that kid from Notre Dame though so who knows.

I haven't heard of the rumor, but as to the bolded why?

It happens all the time in college sports

You dope, we went over this when Milano committed that he approached York and not the other way around. York is not going to approach someone that is committed, even verbally, without being contacted first.

I think Jofa was just throwing out the most ridiculous nightmare scenario he could. I see no evidence that there is any truth to it. I'm not sure what would make Eichel want to change his mind at this point. He committed to BU and Parker and will walk into a situation with an even better coach than the one he committed to. BC has been dickstomping the nation since this kid was learning to walk growing up in Chelmsford, if that didn't persuade him to commit to BC, what exactly would make him want to change his commitment to them now unless a close friend of his committed to BC since that time (assuming BC has room)?

It would show an incredible lack of integrity and loyalty on Eichel's part. Would you spend a high draft pick on someone like that? I certainly would not. As far as York, if he takes a second kid like this in the space of a few months a lot of people, myself included, are going to have the impression he's tapping up other school's recruits regardless of whether he is or not. I would think that he wouldn't want any part of that, especially where BC can get plenty of good recruits who aren't committed anywhere.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

the good thing is york doesn't care what drew s thinks, nor should he. and has there even been anything concrete about this potentially happening? and york certainly won't care about the impression you get. kids have been reopening their recruitment for years now...get used to it.

nhl teams are not gonna care if a kid decides a certain school is a better fit in order for them to reach that nhl team.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

finally, if someone like eichel is having second thoughts about going to bu, any coach out there would be crazy not to take a run at a talent like that. just because you already have good recruits isn't a reason to not go after eichel.

Aaaahahahaha. Yes York is so concerned about what some toothless Maine fan thinks.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

As a BU fan I don't see why York wouldn't put out some feelers on this. All's fair in love and war. Since York most likely will be retiring in a few years, I don't think he's too concerned about his reputation.

Sonny Milano has commited to BC since that point in time. I don't know if they're close friends, but they are linemates (along with Alex Tuch).

retire--- or die... and we already know he's going to hell!! he HAD TO MAKE A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL to get the results he does when no single other soul has been able to do so!! :D

OK glad you caught what I was hinting at but I still don't put much truth to it. It'd be hilarious if it happens though (admittedly not for you guys). Not holding my breath.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

Has Eichel signed a LOI? If so, that'd be a little odd if a coach was involved in trying to poach the kid. That said, I don't think York would actively go after a committed recruit, but if Jack came to York and said he was interested, especially a kid of Eichel's talent, York's going to answer the phone. I can't see how an NHL team would care, what are they worried about? The kid "decommitting" from the NHL and going to Russia or something?

All that being said, Eichel not coming next year would be nothing short of disastrous.

I agree. even if he isn't signed, I highly doubt that a coach llike York would start the process. But if Eichel were to, he'd be dumb not to listen.

Any kid that has a cookie named after him doesn't need the help of their rival's best recruit. ;)

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

was o'connor hurt? didn't maguire play a bunch of games in a row for no apparent reason?

O'Connor had a tough Frozen Fenway game and wasn't seen since, though unfair to completely blame on him considering the conditions. Maguire was in goal since then but is now banged up.

I do like the "no apparent reason" line. You could use that for a lot of questions concerning BU this year.

Re: BU 2013-14 (Part II): Crash before the Phoenix

I just turned the game off when an obvious goal for BU went to review. How in the heck was that goal not put on the board for BU's 4th goal when the puck went in well before the net came off the pegs on that partial break-in?

"For no apparent reason."

That's BU's year. Typical.
