Brown @ Yale - QF 3/12-14

Re: Brown @ Yale - QF 3/12-14

Klump: After listening to Yale and Brown radio and watching the streaming, I think I will stick with you tonight. Good recap on Saturday's game. I trust you are sticking with your prediction of Brown.

That's a very ringing endorsement. Thank you. Maybe eventually I will just get my own internet broadcast account and just call whatever game I am at and compete with the student stations. I did hockey on TV in high school and have done plenty of baseball radio broadcasting.

As to my prediction, I think tonight is anyone's game. I don't think Yale will be as dominant as last night because Brown will be fighting for their lives. I'm calling for a one-goal game. Chances are I'll be wrong again though.

Agreed with Mike. On both broadcasts the play-by-play is strong, but the colour sometimes gets so one-sided its embarassing and offensive to some. The blog is just play-by-play and is much more focused on the hockey. Thanks for posting these.

This is exactly what I disliked about the RPI broadcast last week. I was consequently attacked by the color guy for my remarks on the Brown thread. :p Guy needs to learn to accept criticism, and realize it wasn't a personal attack. The play-by-play was phenomenal for each game, but the color was, as with almost every broadcast, biased, annoying, and whiny.

It is a common problem with student radio. Color only works if it is done by someone knowledgable. If it's just some student, they are just a biased superfan. And they add nothing analysis wise because all they are doing is taking time away from the play-by-play guy. Leave the color to professionals or former players like Quinnipiac does.

For those of you who didn't get to do it today, which is probably most of you since you aren't at the game, it was really awesome to drive to the game in broad daylight. It was strange in a way to, but the atmosphere seems different. Not like you'd expect to feel at a game three do or die battle.

Re: Brown @ Yale - QF 3/12-14

No lineup changes tonight for Yale. Dueck and Jaskowiak are still the 5th and 6th defensemen. Blase will get the start again in goal.

A couple changes for Brown, but nothing too meaningful. Tyler Fernandez and Marc Senecal are scratches tonight, although they hardly got any ice time in the first two games on Brown's fourth line. Two shifts maybe.

They are replaced by Francis Drolet and Sean Connauton, a 7th defenseman. Clemente obviously in goal.

Re: Brown @ Yale - QF 3/12-14

It is rather encouraging to see that the praise is mostly coming from the Brown side. I guess that goes to my impartiality. Although now doing my sixth Brown game in the last two weekends, I can't have helped growing a bit fond of them. May the best team win. I'm in Albany either way covering the championships with Brian Sullivan.

If Yale wins, they will face either Quinnipiac or SLU in the semis.

If Brown wins, they will face Cornell.

No matter what happens tonight, Brown fans should be extremely happy with the season and the direction the program is headed under first-year coach Brendan Whittet. Looking over the stat sheets from just last year to this year, the marked improvement from almost all players is remarkable. Harry Zolnierczyk went from having 5 points in two years to exploding for 31 this year. Jack Maclellan went from 6 points to 33. Even seniors Volpatti and Timberlake are having career years. So was Pietrus until he was lost. Bear in mind these aren't Whittet's guys. They are Grillo recruits. The difference has to be the coaching.

Players about to hit the ice for the introduction of the starting lineups. First goal tonight is big.

Re: Brown @ Yale - QF 3/12-14

Same officials. Dell and Dumas. Boylan and Taggart. Puck drops to start this deciding third game. Brown has shown they come to play when their season is on the line. Should be interesting.

Re: Brown @ Yale - QF 3/12-14

Harry Dumas has gone in to review the Arcobello play and immediately comes back out. Obviously no goal. Looks like Yale requested review.

Re: Brown @ Yale - QF 3/12-14

2nd PP: Z'Czyk-Fratkin-Maclellan-McMonagle-Buvs
2nd Yale PK: O'Neill(he is the addition in place of Backman)-Arco
3rd PK: Little-Kearney

successful kill. Arcobello nearly took the puck away from Clemente behind his own net
