Re: Brown @ RPI on Friday, Nov. 4th

I'll have to look up the replay during the intermission; alls I know is that's what the rule book states.

81.2 does not appear to cover this situation. The stoppage was caused by Bourbonnais' crosscheck. I have never seen the offending team get a faceoff in the offensive end before and I have been watching hockey for more than 50 years.

OK DR72, now I see what you mean by the confusion. It does look like the incorrect call for the situation, because Brown had a long delayed penalty, but then RPI had the cross-check that resulted in the player going into the goaltender. Granted, I don't know how often that sort of thing really happens, so they may not have been aware of it. There are a lot of "uncommon rules" in the book, and it takes a lot to not only understand them, but make those decisions, sometimes in a split second.

Yep I thought at the very least the faceoff should have been at center ice. I'm going to ask my 'experts' at the Ranger game Sunday if they have seen anything similar (although the college rules can differ on these things). There is a first for everything, before game 7 Cubs-Indians I had never seen two guys score on a wild pitch.
