Re: Brown Hockey 2013-2014 - Climbing to the Top of the ECAC Ladder
The Harlow hit happened literally 20 feet in front of me, so you'll have to take my word for it. It looked bad. Doesn't necessarily mean it was intentionally delivered - just in a bad part of the ice.
Thanks. I try.
I'm very interested to see what the league does in the aftermath of the Union-RPI debacle. Obviously, I wasn't there, but it seems that the game had to have gotten to that point somehow. That's two games on the weekend where officiating or at the very least the on-ice animus was in part created by the control or lack thereof by the officials. I have been, by and large, kind of pleased with the ECAC officiating this year, and made my own resolution to not criticize them from the onset of the year until given excuse. Sadly, that day arrived. And hopefully, that day has passed.
Just checked the start of the game, the ILDN shows the start of the Harlow hit but not any impact or resulting outcome, so I really can't judge. I find it interesting that the announcers who are 50' above the Brown bench did not react to the hit. I know the announcers are students, but the female announcer actually played and knows hockey and tends to overreact to hard hits. The Ward hit penalty was deserving due to the Brown player skating across the entire width of the ice just to take him out, it looks from the replay that Ward hit the boards head first, hopefully he is OK. Tough to see the slew footing from the camera angle, really can't comment other than the Yale player was taken down. Just my take from the replays.
