Mark Naclerio leads the nation in points per game at 3.50. If that doesn't perk up your Monday, I don't know what will. :)

Remember that Ryan Jacobson had major reconstructive surgery last winter. Although his recovery has been progressed fine, it may be some time before he's 100%. Lamacchia didn't have a particularly strong game against Dartmouth. Towards the end of the game his place had been taken by Joe Prescott or Kyle Kramer, as Brendan Whittet shortened his bench.

Freshman Tyler Wood has the potential to develop into a very good defenseman. He has excellent hockey sense and size though his skating needs some improvement. The latter will come. Right now he's Brown's number five defenseman, after Dennis Robertson, Brandon Pfeil, Jake Goldberg and Matt Wahl, which speaks to Brown's strength at the blue line.

I would have to agree.

Together with Union's Rick Bennett, Leaman and Whittet are two of the brightest young coaches in the East. Also look for Mike Cavanaugh to give credibility to the U of Connecticut program.

Anyone have insight/thoughts on the starting goalie for this weekend? Does Marco get the call both nights, or does a freshman start against St. Lawrence?

De Filippo was very good against Yale, so I would think he starts on Friday no matter what.

Sad to see Jacobsen on the fourth line. I hope he recovers from the injury well enough to eventually regain his form as a freshman.

With that said, I like the size this lineup offers. Pryzbek, Hathaway, Hourihan, Prescott...these are big, powerful dudes. In the past, Whittet's teams have played physical hockey, but have typically been undersized. Not this team. Great job of recruiting for the system, not just recruiting the best talent available.

One thing that hasn't changed: Clarkson is a bunch of thugs.

Not that we deserved to win at all, but you hate to lose to a team that plays bush league hockey. The goons emerged victorious tonight.

Didn't see it; I was at the other end of the ice. What I did see was Geiger tackle Hathaway after the final buzzer sounded and Hathaway attempted to skate to the handshake line. I saw three Clarkson players shove Pryzbek into Lewis after he made a deliberate attempt to stop before hitting the goalie. Then the Clarkson guys acted as though he acted under his own power and tried to rip his head off. I saw Matt Lorito get dragged by his helmet after a whistle blew. I saw Geiger take multiple shots at various Brown skaters throughout.

Clarkson had one thing in mind tonight: continue the garbage they started after the second game of last year's playoff series. And I'll tip my hat- they did it brilliantly.

Besides all the cheap shots, you guys have a terrific goalie and a great defense that doesn't give away passing or shooting lanes easily. So, in all seriousness, congrats on a deserved win. The other stuff cheapens the game, but Clarkson was definitely the better team tonight. It was a sloppy, physical game and they maintained their composure and stuck to their game plan.

This was not the weekend we were looking for.

However, it's important to remember that this team is VERY young, and that a lot of freshmen played and played well against teams that already had 8 games under their belts.

The goaltending situation is worriesome, but Steel settled down nicely after the first period last night. The defense is more concerning, as they give up shooting lanes and rebounds that didn't happen last year. Every goal this weekend was a result of one of those two things happening.

It's frustrating to know that across town, the Friars already have four sell-outs this year, and we couldn't even fill half of a smaller arena for the first two games of the season.

One more thing: Hourihan and Hathaway have an "A" on their chests. They need to start playing like it
