Well, I no longer feel very bad for him. Without all of the other citations I would, though. I also don't necessarily feel awful for the passenger, either. It depends on if it was a person drinking with him that morning, or an innocent, unknowing individual.

Sorry, I just don't feel as bad when th person knows how hammered the person is and gets into the vehicle anyway.

Just like the people in "Palestine" who have a selection of flags of many nations for "spontaneous" demonstrations (Denmark, for instance), there seems to be a sub culture of people with Chinese plastic flowers at the ready for any "spontaneous" shrines that need decorating. "Are the cameras on? Let me light my candle."

Steve-I don't know about the technical classification but mine is a rear engine rear wheel drive 911. Not an easy automobile to drive unless you do it al the time and definitely one of the least forgiving if you happen to make a mistake. Absolutely, without question, the best auto I ever owned but when you get behind the wheel you have to have all of your faculties working at full strength and speed.

I misspoke - Porsche is RR, not mid-engine. I guess I've been away from the game for too long.

True story - I got to drive a 911 in '75 when I was a rookie. I had a Porsche indy shop in my patrol area. Working night shift I stopped by and checked out the lot. Found the keys in one of the 911's. When I took the keys to the owner in the morning he asked if I'd ever driven one. Hey tossed the keys back to me and told me to bring it back in one piece.

Ironically, I had a '70 GTO at the time -- no comparison. I've been a Porsche man ever since, even if I can't afford one. :(

Yep, speaking as a parent -- he can rot in hell. I'm very glad he didn't take anybody on the road with him.

If you're going to drink and drive please do everyone a favor and just slit your throat.

I've seen him mentioned in every account, actually. If you'd like to put flowers up for him, be my guest, though without knowing anything more about it I have a suspicion that he was probably just as much a self-centered child as the drunk to be {in the car / friends } with him.

Absolutely fabulous as Max the sidekick to Professor Fate in the Great Race. "Push the button Max!!" And of course will be best remembered for his rumpled raincoat as the incredible Lt. Columbo. We have lost a great actor.:(

God bless the ABC 4:30 Movie in NYC in the 70's for showing this movie and "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" a thousand times each.

Falk could play all sorts of roles-he was incredibly menacing as the gangster Abe Reles in Murder Inc. (1960) but i will always remember him as either Columbo(of course) or Max in the Great Race. All of the stars from that incredibly funny movie are now gone except for Dorothy Provine and Larry Storch. We have lost Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, Keenan Wynn, Ross Martin, Jack Lemmon(an incredible cast).
