Re: Bracketology

Has anyone found a way that gets Wisconsin into the top spot? I can only get them as high as 2nd.

Re: Bracketology

Nope. And Wisconsin only gets that high if Miami finishes 4th in the CCHA and Wisconsin wins the WCHA. Miami can finish 3rd and still be the overall #1

Re: Bracketology

What I have for NMU is that if North Dakota beats Duluth in the WCHA play in, NMU is in, provided there are no more major upsets. One win definitely puts NMU in the NCAAs.

Re: Bracketology

Has anyone found a scenario that would get Michigan a #3 seed if they win the CCHA tourney? All I can find keeps them as a 4.

Nope, the highest I've gotten them is a four. They have to win the CCHA to get in. Northern and Ferris could probably both get in, as long as the loser of that matchup wins the third place game.

Re: Bracketology

As near as I can figure UAF needs either Boston College or New Hampshire to win Hockey East; Cornell or Yale to win the ECAC; and for Michigan and Minnesota-Duluth to lose their next games.

That might be hard for them to do...

I found one. Really crazy, but anything could happen. It would involve Air Force, Brown, and Boston Univ winning their tourney's.

CCHA:
Northern over Ferris
Michigan over Miami
--------------
Miami over Ferris (3rd place)
Michigan over Northern (championship)

ECAC:
St. Lawrence over Union
Brown over Cornell
--------------
Brown over St. Lawrence (championship)
Union over Cornell (3rd place)

Hockey East:
Boston University over Maine
Vermont over Boston College
--------------
Boston University over Vermont (championship)

WCHA:
Minnesota-Duluth over North Dakota (4/5 game)
--------------
St. Cloud State over Wisconsin
Denver over Minnesota-Duluth
--------------
Denver over St. Cloud State (championship)
Minnesota-Duluth over Wisconsin

Atlantic Hockey:
Air Force over Sacred Heart
Canisius over RIT
--------------
Air Force over Canisius (championship)

1. Denver (WCHA Champs - Auto Bid)
2. Miami
3. Wisconsin
4t. Boston College
4t. North Dakota
6. St. Cloud State
7. Bemidji State
8. Yale
9. Northern Michigan
10t. Minnesota-Duluth
10t. New Hampshire
CUT OFF LINE ---------------------- CUT OFF LINE
12. Vermont
13. Michigan (CCHA Champs - Auto Bid)
14t. Ferris State
14t. Alaska
16. Boston University (Hockey East Champs - Auto Bid)
17t. Michigan State
17t. Cornell
19t. Colorado College
19t. Union
19t. Maine
22t. Nebraska-Omaha
22t. Minnesota
24. Mass.-Lowell
25. Northeastern
— Air Force (Atlantic Hockey Champs - Auto Bid)
— Brown (ECAC Champs - Auto Bid)
— Alabama-Huntsville (CHA Champs - Auto Bid)

BU, and the other three would be the 4's. Michigan would be the last #3.

Re: Bracketology

It'll take more than that. They're still in 15th with RIT winning or losing.

Well of course more than that, but not a whole lot more, higher seeds winning and Cornell getting the ECAC AQ.

Re: Bracketology

Wow. Vermont could become a 2 seed in this scenario:

# Hockey East Semifinal #2: Boston University defeats Maine.
# Hockey East Semifinal #1: Vermont defeats Boston College.
# Hockey East Championship game: Vermont defeats Boston University.
# ECAC Semifinal #2: St. Lawrence defeats Quinnipiac.
# ECAC Semifinal #1: Cornell defeats Brown.
# ECAC Championship game: Cornell defeats St. Lawrence.
# ECAC Consolation game: Brown defeats Quinnipiac.
# Atlantic Hockey Semifinal #2: Air Force defeats Sacred Heart.
# Atlantic Hockey Semifinal #1: RIT defeats Canisius.
# Atlantic Hockey Championship game: RIT defeats Air Force.
# CCHA Semifinal #2: Northern Michigan defeats Ferris State.
# CCHA Semifinal #1: Miami defeats Michigan.
# CCHA Championship game: Miami defeats Northern Michigan.
# CCHA Consolation game: Michigan defeats Ferris State.
# WCHA Play-in #1: North Dakota defeats Minnesota-Duluth.
# WCHA Semifinal #2: Wisconsin defeats St. Cloud State.
# WCHA Semifinal #1: Denver defeats North Dakota.
# WCHA Championship game: Denver defeats Wisconsin.
# WCHA Consolation game: North Dakota defeats St. Cloud State.

Well, there's the problem of Quinnipiac not being in the ECAC semifinal.

I think Vermont and UMD are the most volatile teams left. They can finish anywhere from #2 seeds to out of the tournament.

Re: Bracketology

A pairwise neophyte Yale fan hanging on to anything positive these days would appreciate some comments on this quote from Jayson Moy . Thanks.

"I have not been able to get Cornell and Yale out of the tournament as of yet, but I think that there are scenarios that can leave either team out, I just have not found them. It may or may not be the case."

They both look pretty solid. St. Cloud's win tonight really helped the Eli.
