BouncyBall 2013/2014

This is pretty cool. The commuter railroad from Connecticut to New York has added a special train specifically to carry UConn fans to Manhattan for tonight's game. The Garden should be rocking tonight.

I fondly remember the Kemba Walker Show from 2011. Shabazz Napier was a freshman on that team. Can he bottle the same lightning this time around?

It will be nothing compared to when the Gophers finally get to hit the hardwood after spending big fat stacks of booster provided cash around town next week!

How Michigan survived Tennessee tonight, I have no clue. From what I saw in the last 10 minutes of their game, I thought they were going to choke.

They tried extremely hard to give that away.

Wow we're the late games amazing. A great night of sports, really.

Even as a Hawkeye fan, I was hoping the clowns could pull it out. The Mayor is a great coach.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

The 76ers beat the Pistons tonight, ending their 26 game losing skid.

And the Detroit Pistons have gone from Eastern Conference champions to Eastern Conference doormats.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Joe Dumars should be fired tonight. I don't care if they hire 89 year old Jack McCloskey to be GM again. Dumars built an absolute abortion of a team.

I have not watched one second of bouncy ball this month, and this is why.

A couple of years back, Mrs. P and I left a PSU - Spartans game with about 10 minutes left in the 2nd half, drove the half hour to home and pulled into the driveway just as the game was ending.

At 18 minutes and nine seconds long, the Tennessee-Michigan game took longer to finish the last 60 seconds than the combined final minutes of three different overtime games, and was easily the longest single final minute—a whopping 14% of the entire game, including halftime.

Depending on which game you went to, there was one in Happy Valley where PSU got something like 50 free throws, so if that was the case I could definitely see why it took forever to finish.

Cinderella was knocked out last night. Well, the real one, unless you also want to count Kentucky and UConn as Cinderellas. An MSU win would result in somewhat of a reunion of the 2000 Final Four that included MSU, UF, UW, and UNC.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Lots of rioting in Arizona, lots of partying last night in Wisconsin. State Street was insanity.
Tucson has had issues in the past. I think they had a good riot one year when they lost to Duke in the finals, as well as back in the 90s when they won it all. Hey, what can you expect from Mildcat fans?

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Well, no one is giving UConn a chance in the Final Four. There IS that little matter of a RS win by the Huskies over Florida, but conventional wisdom has it that past performance is no predictor of future success. I guess that is why they play the games. We shall see ....

Because your top priority when going to a sporting event is when you get to leave?

I would say my top priority when going to a sporting event is being entertained, and long periods of downtime kill the entertainment. College basketball suffers come tournament time because the media timeouts are lengthened by 30 seconds each over the regular season.

Though nothing is worse than college football, which has jumped from about a 2:45 average game to a 3:45 game in about 5 years thanks to unnecessary replays and the endless tv timeouts. It's been a couple years since I've been to a major college game, and I gotta say, it's become far less enjoyable than it used to be.

If big time college football is boring for you, you're doing it wrong. I attended 10 games last year, and had an absolute blast at each one.

You're an Iowa fan. You drink so much while tailgating that you could watch grass grow for four hours and think you had a good time.

Marquette hired Duke assistant Steve Wojciechowski as their new coach.

They're not even close to last place. They've won 13 more games than the Bucks.

Philly lost 26 in a row, and the Bucks are STILL worse. They haven't won 2 in a row all season. Larry Drew maintains they are not tanking, and I believe him. I think everyone knew they'd be bad, but I didn't think they'd be THIS bad. Injuries have totally depleted what was already a mediocre team.

Teams still playing as of today: Florida, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Clemson, SMU, Florida State... and Minnesota?

I'd not have guessed it after watching the 2nd half of the year, losing 10 of the last 17 games. Not sure how they will do against Florida State tonight, as its not at home.
