BouncyBall 2013/2014

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Geno later commented on the state of the men's game.

I agree with him that the state of play needs to be better, but to call it behind the times? Look in the mirror Geno, women's basketball has the parity of La Liga. There are maybe five teams at most each season with a reasonable chance at the tournament. In that regard, they're still stuck in the Wooden era.

It does sound like the men's game will be improving soon though. They're experimenting with a 30 second shot clock and bigger block/charge circle for the NIT.

Don't know if the article you linked (SI is blocked at work, someone must have spent too much time on the Swimsuits) gave all the details of what Geno said based on your response. Your second paragraph is exactly what Geno was talking about. He basically says that most other sports are making rules changes to make the games more exciting for the fans (more offense) while basketball hasn't (and he included women's).

He said that the women's game is behind the times, and the men's game is even further behind the times. He was critical of refereeing in general allowing too much clutch and grab. The crux of his remarks was that most fans watch basketball for entertainment and the current game isn't very much fun to watch, men's or women's.

Mike Eaves says that he respectfully disagrees and that both games are entertaining to watch...

Over the last few minutes, Michigan State couldn't hit water if they were standing on the beach.

I give Michigan State all the credit in the world for making it this far. However, Duke was the superior team tonight.

And... is East Lansing on fire yet?

Not yet, but numbers are growing. One has already been arrested for throwing a lemon at a news van.

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your **** lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”

Harrison holds the ball down to 4 seconds, throw up junk, rinse/repeat. Nice coaching, Cal.
