Re: Bottom Feeders Bracket/Futile Four 2010
The committee has granted a special exemption to Holy Cross allowing them permission to fly to their regional in Saugus. BFB Travel Coordinator Emil Arehart (no relation) booked them a flight from Worcester Regional Airport to Logan International Airport in Boston with connections in JFK and Reykjavik Iceland. Traditionally, BFB participants are not allowed to fly to tournament sites, but the committee was sensitive to complaints from several other teams about Holy Cross' trip being too short.
Several teams have already left for their regional, others are scheduled to leave later today. Driving times and distances are as follows:
Providence to Moscow ID; 43 hours, 2819 miles
AIC to Moscow; 42, 2740
Clarkson to Moscow; 41, 2650
MTU to Moscow; 27, 1667
Harvard to Laurium MI; 22, 1224 ***
Conn to Laurium; 21:30, 1190
Army to Laurium; 20, 1182
Princeton to Laurium; 19:30, 1166
WestMich to Massena; 12, 631 ***
BG to Massena; 10:30, 615
RMU to Saugus; 10:15, 586
Mercyhurst to Saugus; 9:15, 554
Niagara to Saugus; 8, 479
Bentley to Massena; 6:30, 365 **
Dartmouth to Massena; 4:30, 232 **
**Bentley and Dartmouth have NOT been made aware that the Lake Champlaine Bridge is closed for renovation, and will require a substantial detour.
***The most direct routes for WMU & Harvard require passing through Ontario, and the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) have warned the BFB Committee that "any attempt by any participant in this travesty of a tournament to enter their sovereign territory will be considered an act of terrorism." The committee meant to pass this information along to the teams, but the post-it notes were misplaced. Please be advised, the clerical temp responsible for this error has been disciplined; she was hired full time, and promoted to office manager.
