Boston University Terriers 2026 Offseason Thread

Don't think you need to be a local to buy into Terrier hockey. The high national profile is a differentiator and a strength to be exploited. But a healthy mix is good; seeding with locals who know something of the lore is helpful.

part of this is also circumstance, the american age group basically since Hagens/Eiserman is lacking in talent besides a few specific gems. Plus, upcoming classes project to have plenty of americans or at least dual citizens, including plenty of legacy guys like Aucoin, the Meyers, Pandolfo. Other Americans include Glance, Schairer, Knowling, Barnes.

(also, speaking of the Meyers, Carter had his preseason debut for the Remparts the other day. 2g2a and reviews are glowing from people around the Q)

Chris Peters and Cam Robinson talked about this more in depth in their podcast's latest episode, worth a listen imo

on this year- there are plenty of other things that will contribute to the effort part. one of the more unique ones relevant to this recruiting class is the pride of coming from a so-called "non traditional hockey market" or a smaller country. Niklas Aaram-Olsen played for Norway in basically every level of international competition last year. Norway is putting out some real talent lately. Then you have Haoxi Wang, who is from Beijing. China is such a non-hockey market his mom had to petition the government to build rinks that aren't a 2 hour drive across the city in peak traffic. basically has a modeling side gig at home in the offseason. This summer he made his international debut at D1B worlds in China, got silver and best defenseman. His connection to BU is also relevant- his older brother was a Terrier. I'd imagine both of them have a lot of pride and want to prove they have what it takes in college hockey and in the NHL.
