Boston University Terriers 2026-2027 season…insert clever title here!

The MC loss was a huge upset but they still could have won an NC . Losing to UNH in the regional final. Big choke year in the post season with an absolute loaded team and All American goalie. Lost a 3-1 lead in third period in Regional final and then a shorthanded goal in OT by that two bit bum Mark Mowers.
BU had beaten the Warriors 9-1 the week before he playoffs. Was a great send off for 'Mack Coach (and BU alum) Ron Anderson. Local kid Tom Welby stole game 3. I still have the Boston Globe from the next day.

That was fun.

7 different goal scorers.

All 12 forwards on the score sheet. (Paging the doom and gloomers who said this was the worst forward group in Hockey East. )

Never have I ever .... In the over 500 BU games I've watched seen 3 goals in the first 1:31. (How quick were the 3 in the third vs. Michigan State? The old timers know the game I mean.)

BU's second goal should be used in all of their promo reels. 😳🤌💕

And finally.... New announcer guy. I have a few notes: :) It's a difficult job, but work on speaking more into the microphone or raising your volume a bit. It's okay to get a bit more excited (We want to hear that excitement!) Google some diction exercises. I say all of this with all the love in my heart. You got this!

And finally, that was a pretty pathetic crowd last night. Where was everyone? And where are the students? Someone call the Apathy Busters! (Who ya gonna call!?)

BU Hockey: Might Not Suck

That was strange. Otto's at about 6 is usually packed and it was half full. In the stadium there weren't even as many Maine fans as usual and even the band looked a lot smaller.

All four new defenseman are playing well at both ends of the ice.

The three goals in the first 1:31 and the four goals in the first 4:49 of the contest are the fastest to start a game for the Terriers in the 21st century.

The last time all 12 forwards were on the scoresheet, Pando was captain and Drury had a hat trick.

All four new/newish D-men have been very solid; Wang, Amico, and XV have adapted quickly and are contributing at both ends.

Where was Bernie and Linehan? Was that a NESN crew? If so, a HUGE step down.
I shut off the sound and synched their call from goterriers.com with the video. MUCH better.

Did I miss it or were they not putting up the goal scorers on the main scoreboard? I saw names on those side ones. Or am I misremembering that they used to do that?

I thought it was funny that buy the time they promoted the Cane’s Challenge they had already won it.

it was a NESN crew. they also claimed svoboda was still sharks property at some point so i knew it might not be as spectacular… however they did pronounce most names right which is a big plus. the uconn game was a bit of an adventure in that regard 😭

Maine needed goal #3 desperately.....you could see the final result coming from a mile away.
credit to maine on the bounceback effort though, esp early. i think i know what Barr told the black bears, there was a stretch in the 1st where every BU shot was blocked for a minute and a half. 26 blocks in the whole game.

malhotra has been so close for a long while, hopefully this will be the spark he needs to produce more consistently

Not the start we were looking for, but I thought much better in the last 2 periods. Puck wasn’t quite jumping into the net with our opportunities like last night - reminiscent of earlier in the month. Probably no surprise - that’s not going to happen twice against Maine in a weekend. I thought if we got 1 to make in 2-1, that the tie was likely. One of the most resilient teams in years. I have no fear of going down a goal or 2. Lawrence showing snipe ability - need that. And Malhotra with an absolute monster move to get in shooting position and bury the winner. He should have won that UConn game in OT, but gets this one in the back of the net. Big Mike mostly solid - couldn’t hold onto that first one - that’s all I could find negative to say about his game tonight.

I’ll say it again - I like this team. Huge games next weekend - need to hold our own and get at least 1 win.

Understandable that Maine came out with high intensity, would have hoped Terriers were a little more prepared for it. While last year it was BU who gave up some inopportune penalties to lose games the glove was on the other foot last night.

The refs had clearly lost their patience with #12 and a few other players. The empty barn made comments easier to hear which created at least one penalty.

Whereas the puck was glued to BU sticks Friday night, last night was a little less precise but … 25/26 team loses that game, great to see them keep working, mostly stay out of the shenanigans and then have the high-end talent to turn a game late.

Good weekend of hockey although the empty stadium was a bit of a bummer.

I think that it did ultimately turn into a bit of a slog after Maine scored is making us forget that BU did come out pretty heavy in the first 5 minutes. Mr Roll up above mentioned all the blocked shots. We had possession in their zone quite a bit at the start.

Any idea what attendance was like in other spots around hockey east this weekend.
