Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

what year banquet was it when quinn showed up late, coming from the airport? parker saw him come in and said, "i thought you were late because your head got stuck in the o'neil tunnel!" :D

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Guess that answers my question. It also pretty much confirms that, just as Jack stayed one more year so it wouldn't look like he was "forced out" after the investigation, this was already a done deal.

Gee...I was kind of hoping to have some time for discussion after the season. They took away all my fun!!

I don't believe this confirms at all that Jack was forced out. Just that this has been on the minds of Parker and Lynch and that over the course of the past year, Quinn was quietly told he'd be the new hire. Since BU is a private, they don't have to do any job posting requirements that a state school would.

Per Twitter, Quinn will remain as assistant with Colorado until their season is over then assume full responsibilities here.

I think collegefan has a scoop

Isn't their season already over? ;)

He'll give them lip service until April 27. I'm sure Jack can put off sailing until then to make sure there's no gap in recruiting. The team can't formally practice with coaches anyways, so as long as they begin Boyle's offseason training programs, there's not much for him to do.

Agreed.... Or even that it was in their minds back when he left to get head coaching experience for a couple of years.

Thanks...I'll consider the source

Not that we needed more confirmation, but it was just on ch 7 news.

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

I'm in the camp of this move was in the works for awhile and Parker was coaching his last season whether he wanted to or not. How could BU approach Quinn only to have Parker decide to stick around yet again? Didn't we go thru this script 4 years ago? That "extensive search" they talked about was a dog and pony show.

But lets not miss the larger point. I am thrilled with this move even if it is 4 years too late. I couldn't have drawn it up better myself.

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Logical choice. Recruiting ability no doubt made him the front runner from the start, whenever the start was. I'm going to miss Jack for many reasons. But I have a lot of positive feelings about this guy.

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Well clearly the fix was in from the start; but also clearly the right choice. Popular with fans, alums and the recruiting crowd as well. In the end I think Quinn's time in the AHL and NHL is going to be a big benefit and make him a better HC than if he just took over in 2009. Maybe that was part of the plan, as well?

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

I don't take the "job search" as a dog and pony show so much as it was clearly just a case where they didn't want to take any thunder from Jack's retirement by also announcing who his replacement is at the same time. They did the right thing by separating the two events out of respect for Jack.

Ohm and also.....Yay! Let the transformation begin.

I too would like to see Grier as an assistant. He seems like the perfect type to get into coaching.
