Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

I believe there was one game he did indeed "dress" for in 11-12, but he only was out for warmups, I don't believe he ever was on the bench during the game, and certainly was not on the ice, he was only on the active roster for that night as an emergency addition in case of injury. The NCAA considered this a game played and thus it would be a year of eligibility used. They'll appeal it and probably win, he's a guy I'd like to see on the roster if for no other reason than he's a hustler who's not afraid to get out there and throw his body around, would be a solid addition to the 4th line.

that wasn't the game with the three swiss players who had once suited up with professionals?!?! :D

that's too bad... guys show a tendency to get hurt young - they usually always get hurt year after year after year after year after year...

I'm not too worried, he's a tough kid and played through most of the bumps and bruises and still put up big numbers, as did Fitz and Calnan.

You're very welcome. Oh and one other little tidbit, through two seasons, Cangelosi is a +32 while your guy is a -16, but who's counting, right?

+/- is like giving a right fielder an error when the SS drops a throw.

i'm just happy you agree 18 goals are big numbers :D

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

....when combined with 42 assists it's a big number. So in summation, Cangelosi is a year younger, put up more than 50% more PPG this year and over two years was 48 better on the +/- scale than Baillargeon. Yup, pretty even players in my estimation!

he is in the same school grade. same. they would both be in Xenth grade. same. same.

I don't care if your guy is in kindergarten and our guy is a senior. Your guy is still a year older and is a 93 vs our guy who's a 94 and that's what talent evaluators look at. Considering he's a BU kid, he probably got kept back a year somewhere along the way because you start school based upon you birth year and nothing else unless you're a little slow of course :-)

you really don't know anything, do you :p

jan 94 and dec 94 are in the same grade :D

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Same grade, about a year apart. everyone goes home happy.

seriously... one born in the winter, one the next summer. when the season starts they are the same age.

even the nhl has the sept 15th age cut date. it's not a calendar year deal.

what is the quote that fits carly?? 'better to keep your mouth closed and thought the fool, than open it up and remove all doubt'? :D

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Baillergeon was born in Nov, not December and again, it's irrelevant what grade he's in. Every talent evaluator on the planet ranks players based on their birth year and nothing else. The fact that as a year younger player, Cangelosi put up better than 50% more PPG, ends any debate as to who is the better prospect, by quite a large margin in fact. Your guy is a good player, AC is a great payer. You'll see for yourself next year...

so a 95 scores zero goals and a 93 scores 100... and the evaluator ranks the 95 higher?

gotcha ;)

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

just looked it up. one guy is 6 feet the other is 5'8"

tough comparison

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

brandon sutter is an 89. every talent evaluator has him ahead of crosby (87)

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Nope, the way it works is if a 94 and a 93 have similar stats, then the 94 is considered the better prospect. In this case though, not only is AC a year younger, he also put up way more points, so you don't have to even take the age thing into consideration, because he's a much better player period!

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Travis Bunga from UNH was a text book example of this age differential thing. The kid put up like a thousand points in the BCHL, but someone forgot to tell the UNH faithful that he was doing so as like a 24 year old. So while they were expecting the next Paul Kariya, they got about 2 points out of him in 2 years and he was shipped off to division 4 powerhouse University of New England where he soon became the stuff of legends. So there you have it, Robbie Baillargeon, BU's very own version of Travis Bunga!
