Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Good points for the most part but sorry this was BU's game to win after last nights emotional win (that should have been the tough one) and they coughed up a furball and Nieto looked like the career AHLer that he will be. If they felt awful that they came up small in a big game for their coach, they deserve to feel that way.

You obviously havne't followed Hockey East this year if you think that BC should have been the tougher game.

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

You are a joke to think that was some sort of admirable effort tonite to be shutout in a do or die game to the "best team in the country" lol. The lack of urgency was frightening. That shows how far this program has sunk that a "nice try" against the Engineers is laudable. Wade Megan had about as uneventful/unsuccessful of a 4 year career as a BU Captain has ever had. His falling down and then the heads up play to throw the puck back to his own blue line was a choke that turned out costing BU a trip to the NCAA's and a going away championship to the beloved Coach.

The only joke here is the guy on here to gloat and throw guys who just played their hearts out under the bus.

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

That was a great college hockey game for sure. I think Lowell played really well but I also think BU played very well and if it weren't for a funny bounce off a skate that led to the UML goal then they might still be playing. This BU fan is really proud of how this team matured and came together in the past few weeks. There's a lot of talent on this team from the net out and if everybody sticks around the future is bright. I'll never understand what happened to this team in Jan and Feb but they did play better and made it interesting. Unfortunately all the games count. Hopefully BU picks a great new coach and we pick up where we left off this year. Enjoy your springs and summers everybody.

Agreed...

Ditto...

And why are you so angry, anyway?

If you are asking me, it is because I don't think it's cool for someone to come on here, hide behind a screen name and talk crap about guys that have accomplished 70 times more athletically than he ever did or will.

100% agree. Very well put.

jofa had that postmortem prepped and ready like all good newspapers have in their files.

No...I didn't mean you, Eric (sorry I should have grabbed the quote)...I meant Jofa. Why would I think YOU were angry? Anyone who comes on and gloats about their team losing the biggest game of the year obviously needs to get a life.

I figured you were not asking me... but I thought I'd let you know just in case! :D

Thanks again by the way.... I wish I could have gone tonight as well....

As I said, anyone who waits 15 years so they can gloat needs to get a life...it's irrelevant whether it was spontaneous or "prepared." Maybe he'd like to trade with me who has had four friends die of cancer in two months, a mother-in-law who passed away and a cousin who was just diagnosed with cancer. I don't have a lot of tolerance for an attitude like that...sorry to turn this personal. Let's move on and hope that the program (I was going to say "rebounds") has continued success. You know, the NHL had six teams once and the Canadiens won a million Stanley Cups. Does he think they should still win every year now that there are 30 teams? Get real...

BC will go two wins further in the NCAAS then Lowell mark it down, despite all of the Supefans sandbagging.

No problem...so do I. Couldn't make it two nights in a row. As it turned out I'm glad I went to the one I did. :D

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Truly the end of an era. It's just not gonna be the same going forward without Jackie behind BU's bench. I may not have particularly liked him, but have the respect the accomplishments over the course of his career. Be very interesting to see where things go from here.

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Sorry, I don't agree. You're living in the past. Did you even look at the stats this season?

Overall record: Lowell 26 - 10 - 2

And even more telling.... 22 - 3 - 1 since early december...

Good point. They had to adjust to a new system (as Hellybucyk said in the interview after the game) and have been on a tremendous roll since. :)

Dislike Jack if you want... you are entitled to your opinion..... but what an assinine post and not fair to say about Megan and some of the other guys. Perhaps you didn't notice but this is not the Lowell team from when you were a fan of BU hockey. Check the records... Lowell is arguably the best team in the country right now and we put out a very good effort that was unfortuantley just not quite enough.

Were you even cheering for them?

I'm not even sure its arguable right now that Lowell is the best team in the nation. That post is utterly ridiculous and makes me wonder if this guy is a longtime troll. If you couldn't see the effort on the ice tonight against an extraordinarily good team who very easily could win it all, I can't help you.

Everything I have heard on here from the fanboys is expected, thank goodness there is another point of view heard from or this would be a love-in. This was a subpar effort a stinker in the biggest game of most their lives. What you are hearing on here is the wussification of the BU hockey culture. Bring on a Coach who doesnt applaud a "nice try". The senior class had an embarassing run of futility not seen ever in this program, and Megan put an exclaimation on it with his putrid play when it most counted.BC fans were more ticked off by last night and they are riding on a pretty impressive streak of success and headed to the NCAAS as one of the two favorites with Minny, then BU fans who are happy with a semi-spirited effort. Spare me.

Not to mention that this is hockey - the game where the highest percentage of outcomes are decided by fluke bounces and random fate. Please don't interpret that as my saying that Lowell is "lucky." My point was that just because you lose doesn't mean you didn't give tremendous effort. When Lowell hit the post on the breakaway, I said "It's our night because the breaks are going our way." Well, i was wrong. This isn't basketball where a couple hundred points are scored. Hockey is a game where each score is magnified precisely because there are so few of them. The margin between winning and losing is so small that at this level it's almost imperceptible. Yes, many of us came on here in January and February and bemoaned what was clearly a lack of effort. But that was then. It was NOT the case tonight. This team played hard and left everything out on the ice. It's just the nature of the game. When we beat Lowell, 1-0 in 2009 I'm sure their fans didn't come on here and trash their team's effort. And whether or not Lowell "goes further" than BC in the tournament or not has NOTHING to do with what happened this weekend.
