3 OT's in their previous game defkit. Do you believe in miracles!? :)

Awesome win. Tomorrow will be interesting.

I said that on purpose, to imply exactly what you responded to, just did a bad job being sarcatsic. My point is, whether or not he embellished it (I don't know, I said I couldn't see it) Gaudreau is an idiot for putting himself in that situation, where he undoubtedly knows the ref is more likely to call the penalty on him, 200 feet from his own net in a crucial part of the game.

hey, johnny dum bass should be thankful they made up a cross checking major so he could stay in the game. boarding or hfb major calls for a game and risks getting the dq and missing the first ncaa game.

Made up? I'm not gonna tell you it wasn't dumb, but please. A five minute penalty was more than enough.

i'm saying 21 was hit from behind into the boards. in every other game that is a boarding or hfb call and if they decide it's a major it also comes with a game misconduct or a game disqualification.

instead tweetle dee and tweetle dum stood there and thought to call it a cross check. this allowed him to stay in the game after his penalty was served and he didn't have to worry about sitting out the next game.

got it?

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

I liked when Gaudreau had that break in the 3rd and drew the slash penalty -- he made sure to finish his shot (missed) then threw up his hands and looked back at the ref like, "Ugh! Cmon ref! Jiminy!"

Johnny Ainge. :D

One of my friends I go to games with is a certified USA Hockey ref, he too was scratching his head as to why there was no misconduct, 10 minute or game along with it. Apparently it's possible but so rare that one of the two is not attached. Probably best that it wasn't if it is true that it was a borderline call.

On another note: a well-deserved award for Jim Prior tonight. I'm sure many of you, like me, will keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Calling that a boarding would've been the cherry on top.

Escobedo outweighs Gaudreau by over 50 pounds.

Agreed, great to see him at the event

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Read the Globe today. It's all about Lowell and PC's amazing freshman goalies. No mention of the kid between the pipes for BU.

BU Hockey: No Tout

Maguire was highly touted coming to BU.

The Globe story is just a story. The PC and Lowell goalies were written about because they got the league awards. Has everything to do with their contributions to their teams this season, and nothing to do with their reputations entering college hockey.

Maguire was the difference in tonight's game. He was Sean Fields-like for the first two periods. Parker Milner was BC's Achilles heel. It is amazing that BC won a national title with him in net. Says a lot about the terrific defense the Igles have put in front of him, because he isn't that good.

Nice win last night. Not sure if BU is going to ride the momentum or have a letdown game tonight.

I think they'll ride the momentum and play well. Whether or not it's enough to beat Lowell is another question.

Powers was watching Maguire for more than a year before his verbal. He became a hot commodity during the 2011 World Junior A Challenge when he outdueled highly publicized Swedish goalie Oscar Dansk in the semifinal and then was named the tourney's top goalie.

Nice photo sequence of Maguire robbing Gaudreau in the Boston Hockey Blog's slide show.

Re: Boston University season thread 4: Where BC comes to talk hockey

Fell asleep midway through the game last night while it was 2-0 BC, absolutely shocked to see the final score this morning given how BC dominated that first half. Im rooting for Mr Parker the rest of the way (unless you play UNH of course)..... Nice job Terriers!

To say milner isn't that good, apparently harry cleverly slept through february-april of last year. Sheesh, he had a tough night at the office.

The gaggle of Iggle fans I chatted with on the T last night thinks he's terrible. I told them it was just a bad night at the office and BC will be back in the Frozen Four in a few weeks. They scoffed. *shrug*

One other thing about last night. BU's "will to win" the entire 3rd period was **** impressive. They were blocking shots, diving, hitting guys, selling out - basically doing anything to keep BC from scoring. Especially on the short hand. It was a thing of beauty.

BU Hockey: Pride
