Boston University @ Northeastern 1/13/12

Re: Boston University @ Northeastern 1/13/12

I am not one to initiate a message board ****ing match

I am. The ref lost sight of the puck before it went in and thus the play should have been blown dead, therefore no goal. BU wins Hockey East Championship 1-0. Link this post for them;)

What? Never happened! :D

Re: Boston University @ Northeastern 1/13/12

Here's wishing the Huskies continued success (and a bit of puck luck) for Friday the 13th.
Of course because of Jack Parker's pact with the devil.. we're doomed :)

Re: Boston University @ Northeastern 1/13/12

Considering how well NU has been playing of late and BU's drama over the break, I don't see how NU isn't the favorite in this game.

Re: Boston University @ Northeastern 1/13/12

I will say this, they are no the 11th best team in the nation.
I think you're right there. KRACH says they're 7th-best.

Somewhat on-topic, NU is sitting in the mid-teens in that ranking, despite only the 31st best winning percentage.

KRACH seems to like big wins more than bad losses.

Re: Boston University @ Northeastern 1/13/12

NU vs. bu is a real fake rivalry. NU takes it seriously, bu, not so much, and really, what reason would you, because we managed one playoff series victory against you? There maybe some recent history, but overall, not so much. Same goes for NU vs. BC.

edit: Just to add a bit more, I am under no illusions, that NU will ever overtake either BC or bu as their #1 rival. NU could win back to back National Championships, and while that would put the bulls-eye on our back for a bit, in the end things would go back to how they are now. Where NU fans treat these games with a lot more passion then the two Comm Ave schools do. After a win for NU against either teams, you typically do not see the same kind of depression, frustration, anger or unhappiness you see from NU fans when we lose to either team. And that kind of says it all.

.................... yup :D red headed stepchild! ;)

That's Black and Red headed!

This should be one spirited game. Let's hope both teams are healthy for this one. Playing 'Mack or the Gophers can take it's toll. The U.S. team certainly wanted to bang as well.
We've never seen Cisse. How is he progressing after all of his injuries? Too bad we came in second or third in the Gill sweepstakes. He and Pimm would have been unstoppable as they were back in (the real) B.C.

Who is your best all-around D these days? Noonan seemed to be headed in that direction when I've seen him this year

I personally like Noonan. But he has a tendency to take some pretty dumb penalties, but you know what so does the rest of our D. Could make a case for Clendening, too. He's been really good as of late, if you ignore the World Juniors where he liked to produce more turnovers than plays.

Not really. As Patman says, they're treated equally.

There's an interesting somewhat-related case: if you play two games, one against a team with a rating of 1000, and the other against a team with a rating of 1 (assuming that a rating of 100 corresponds to the overall "average" team that would be expected to go 0.500 against a full round-robin schedule), and go 0.500, your resulting rating will be exactly the same regardless of who the win was against and who the loss was against.

I was actually saying that sarcastically in response to the other post. I don't really know much about krach, haven't read up on it more than some casual glances.

Re: Boston University @ Northeastern 1/13/12

And thanks for answering whether students are back. I was wondering about that. BU isn't back till after this game so I wonder how many student fans will be there.

As far as I know there will be a good amount of BU students there. Not as big as the crowds that traveled to BC but a decent showing. Since classes start back up Tuesday, there are some kids moving back this weekend and going to the two "away" games without leaving Boston. Should be a tight game per usual at Matthew. I'm thinking a 4-3 or 3-2 game. BU wins of course cause Parker's got the refs in his pocket duh

A perfect example of a "half-truth". The refs view parker as "alpha". They speak to him respectfully. Yessir, m'lord coach. That's worth an extra 2.4 powerplays per game for bu.

For an expected sellout, this thread is moribund. Even Dieharddogs.com is pretty quiet. No nipping at each others paws. No snarky Saponari comments. This should be a great test for both teams. Doesn't anyone have anything to say???

Funny you shold mention that. I was going to post today that this thread was far too civil. Maybe everyone is just waiting for the Beanpot? Not sure.

Saw this on Twitter earlier today, good for a chuckle:

@FakeJackParker
Fake Jack Parker
Big talk from someone with a whopping 3 goals. RT @VinnySap: @kieran_millan what should I do after I snipe on you? Drink your water bottle?

If we are lucky we will get Bunyon and Shea as refs. I love 3 on 3 hockey.
