Boston University at Denver 12/29

Re: Boston University at Denver 12/29

A much needed victory for the Pios after 8 feckless games before the break.
Jussi gets DU's first shutout of the season.

How was it that Noonan didn't get whistled for those repeated cross checks to the Denver player, when MacGregor picked up his game misconduct? Very ugly game, in terms of penalties, for O'Regan and Privitera. He seems to be a bit of a loose cannon at times. What the hell was that kick for, after the take down?

You think????? At the risk of demolishing the horse that's already dead, if there are no consequences for this ridiculous display of lack of discipline night after night after night after night, what does that say about the HEAD COACH??? I don't get it. It's getting embarrassing now. BU seems to take personal offense to anyone touching them. I've have never seen so much out of control hitting after the whistle in my life. How long is this going to go on before someone gets control over this team? Every Denver goal (at least until it got out of hand) was the direct result of a penalty. Ridiculous...

If you think that was alot of penalties, imagine the tally if Mayfield hadn't of gotten the boot. In chippy games, like this was - Scott usually loses control; if he's not in the box multiple times, he's kicked out.

This was exactly how I felt after watching that debacle. Privitera, Noonan, and O'Regan should all sit out the next game, in my opinion. It's one thing if a team takes a run at our goalie or something, but Noonan's repeated checks after the whistle were ridiculous. I agree it's crazy that he didn't get called on those. I am growing to dislike Noonan quite a bit, as it seems he never passes up an opportunity to rough somebody up.The Privitera "kick", while completely harmless, was a pure stupidity. Three guys in stripes standing around, but he still feels the need to "get the last word in". And his dumb penalty right after we were given the 5-minute power play.....then we give up two 4 on 4 goals. I don't mind O'Regan's penalties nearly as much, as they weren't generally dirty, but I think he should sit anyway, just to make it clear that piling up the PIM's will not be tolerated.

DU's goalie was unreal. Those two breakaway stops on the SH were clutch.

Re: Boston University at Denver 12/29

Privitera was given a game disqualification penalty which means he cannot play the next game, assuming it was his first DQ of the season. The suspension equals the number of DQs a player has received in the season.

Putting aside the lack of discipline for a moment, BU did generate plenty of quality scoring opportunities. The Denver goaltender was by far the best player on the ice last night. A third stringer? Wow.

Re: Boston University at Denver 12/29

Agreed. That was a major step backwards for this BU team. They looked totally rattled and decided to goon it up. Denver wasn't all class either cf the knee on knee hit on Megan at the end of the game. That was the most disjointed hockey game I've seen in a long time.

Noonan doesn't deserve the A and Jack has no control over these kids. They're getting worse as the season goes on.

When are they going to learn to skate away? Why do they grapple with whoever is near them after every single whistle? That was bad.

Just to clarify, that Olkinoura isn't a third stringer. He may have been a third stringer early in his career at DU, but not for a while. This year it has been mostly a rotation between him and Brittain, and Olkinoura is the clear #1 right now. He put on a great performance last night. He got lucky once or twice, but he made some fantastic saves, too.

Yep, BU sure did look undisciplined last night. There were a couple of stretches of 5-10 minutes where you could see the real BU team, and how they are capable of playing. But for the rest of the game, they just looked a little "out of it," and any momentum they had was killed by bad penalties.

Anyway, good to have an opponent like BU in our barn. Not much noise in the arena with students gone, but at least there was a big crowd, and DU finally sent the fans home happy.
