Re: Boston University 2019-2020

Hey Sean - based on Brian Kelley's tweets last night, Farrance has now scored more points this season than any other Terrier defenseman in the Hockey East era (now one more point than Tom Poti). Who is next highest overall? I assume Bob Brown and Ric Jordan are unreachable (at least their best seasons).

Re: Boston University 2019-2020

Benefits of playing UML vs. Maine:

- Swayman
- BU beat UML on the road in the quarters just last year
- Swayman
- Alfond Arena
- Swayman
- Distance for BU fans
- Swayman

That being said, I don't want the boys to lose on purpose. So a tie it is!
You know that old adage, "Be careful what you wish for." don't you? I'm sure UML remembers last year as well. As for Swayman vs Wall:
Jeremy Swayman - 71 ga - 2.07 gaa - 0.939 sv%
Tyler Wall - 68 ga - 2.10 gaa - 0.931 sv%

I want BU to play as well as possible today and get a solid win.

Sean

Since the start of Hockey East here are the top ten Terrier defensemen scoring records in a season:

Farrance is tied for second in goals, 2 behind Garrett Noonan's 16 in 2011-12 and is tied for second in assists, 2 behind Jon Coleman's 31 in 1995-96. Here are BU's top ten all-time defensemen scoring records in a season:

and to think, that chitshow of a season in 03-04, whitney led the team with 25pts

Re: Boston University 2019-2020

Would anyone like to offer a thought, opinion, or even an explanation if there is one, as to why Zegras - as a member of a team that traditionally enters the ice to start a game in numerical order - is the last one out of the room, even after the captains who have been fist-bumping their teammates on their way out?

Or, why the coach of this team would permit that? I think that speaks volumes for them both.

I believe Trevor has been here for himself, that his play has been a perplexing mix of intensity and indifference, and that he is not (yet) in the league of our other 'one and done' players (Eichel, Keller, Farabee or Tkachuk).

Thanks for assembling these lists, Sean. Of the 9 that follow Farrance on the HE era list, all but Doug Wood were first or second team All-Americans for the year indicated. Grzelcyk, Gilroy, and Poti were first team; Coleman, Ahola, Brennan Octeau and Kelleher were second team. Coleman also was a first team AA for another season. Think it's safe to safe that Farrance will join them on the BU All-American wall.

A few things to untangle here. This is something I’ve wondered myself and asked. The thought is that he comes out with his line mates and since he was on a line with Curry who came at the end, he waited. Don’t know if that is still the case. And, I hear you on Zegras. While very skilled he isn’t as likeable as Keller was. I think Keller is the best comparison, but I think keller was better in his one season at BU which will be the same for Zegras.

Happy for Ferrance, but I saw Tom Poti play, and David Farrance is no Tom Poti no matter what the numbers say. Will be interesting to see how his pro career unfolds. I think he’ll be a minor league and Europe journeyman like Noonan. I hope I’m wrong.

I look at that list and think, Doug Wood had nine goals in a season?

Partial correction here - Curry is always the last one onto the ice. Though you're correct Zegras enters out of order numerically. Can't speak to why this occurs, but it's noticeable.

If you have a subscription to the Athlete there is an article on Wisconsin hockey and it really shines light on how some players don’t care about their school and see it as a temporary must before they go on to the next level. It was actually very disappointing to see how little they care about the current team they are on.

How so?

Re: Boston University 2019-2020

Matt Quercia had surgery on his shoulder on Thursday.

And while playing at UML would work well for me so I can go see them, I in no way want them to tank this game. I want them to play well, play smart and end the regular season on a high note heading into next weekend. There’s no certainty that playing Lowell would be that much easier and if they want to make any kind of run, limited as it may be, they should be of the frame of mind that to be the better team, they have to beat the better team. And if they don’t, well, maybe don’t cough up a lead and tie/lose in OT earlier in the season.

Re: Boston University 2019-2020

What is this penalty credited to NUs backup goalie?

I’m not actually present, so this is based on what I’ve seen online: Someone shot a puck from NU’s end that hit Curry in the head.

He’s here at the game today. Along with many members of the 94-95 team who were honored between periods. I can’t believe it’s been 25 years. 25!!!! Oy. I’m so old. I guess there was an alumni game this morning. Some of the 2009 team are here too.

Also, looks like I’ll see you all at Tsongas next week. Game is half over and all they have is 10 shots.
