Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Who was in Worcester 19 years ago today when Drury's OT goal beat Denver in the East regional final? Had forgotten that the teams were skating 3-on-3 when Drury scored. Two goals for Albie that day. A few good men.

Meeeeeeeeeeee!

I remember someone saying that season the Terriers were undefeated when Drury had at least one point. He didn't have on that game until he assisted on Bates' goal in OT.

ETA I thought Bates scored to win, not Drury???

According to the folks in the Denver thread, you're not wrong!

So....Scarlet. How come you're not crucifying Bomber for saying what I essentially got eviscerated for after the Lowell series? Inquiring minds want to know...

(I'll paraphrase so you don't have to go back and look it up...I believe you said "The situation is not as dire as you are making it out to be...they played one bad game...")

Yikes! Lots to reply to here.

1) I was there and I'm still calling it a 3x3 goal 'cause that was pretty much what was on the ice when it happened. Drury sending us to the FF! Good times.
2) Chikod, Chickod, Chickod. It's all about the tone. Think about it. And then drink a nice glass of scotch. Single malt
3) Hary Cleverly: Oy vey.

That's what my wife tells me. And to think I waited a day to let my emotions "settle down." Imagine if I had written right after the game?

Gentlemen, I have a friend that works for the boston herald and I'm told there is going to be some bad news coming out about BU hockey. Please stay tuned - I will update as soon as possible.

So they did throw the National Championship game!!! The better team didn't actually win. :D

BU Hockey: Oy, the drama

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

Notre Dame leaving Hockey East is bad news for BU? :)

@Buccigross: For the first time in NCAA Tournament history, all 5 Beanpot schools – BC, BU, Harvard and Northeastern are in the field

Speaking of that, did everyone notice the "absence" of Melrose at the selection show? (or Buccigross and Starman for that matter) What's up with that?

I guess because he couldn't say "Jackie Parker" any more, they didn't see a need to have him on...

Buccigross called in on the selection show.

That's because Bates had what still ranks as one of the best games I have ever seen a college hockey player have. He assisted on both of Albie's goal and scored what appeared at the time would be the GWG, I believe shorthanded, on a breakaway. He literally had 4 individual rushes on that game where he was skating through Denver like a hot knife through butter. He brought his a-game that night - in a way I wished that Bates would have been able to score the GWG, because he was just immense.
