Good for our guys. Starting to turn this thing around. Good defensively tonight save for a few anxious moments in the 3d.
Looking forward to seeing Cisse play regularly going forward. Love the potential physical presence.

What happened to the attendance at Agganis, and the student section? It was a library in there last night vs. UNH.

Good game overall, and good win for you guys, but I expected more from the atmosphere from previous years...

a combination of people going home early for break and losing to holy cross/lowell/providence. it's rather confusing actually considering how many students went down to the BC game last weekend.

The atmosphere and attendance has markedly dropped off IMO. Not sure if it's ticket prices or if the fans are tired of sub-par play. If the squad keeps throwing up wins then it should come back. There's even a bunch of season ticket holders I sit next to that went from never missing a game to 50% attendance. The student section has been smaller and less enthusiastic in recent years.

Hopefully the team keeps winning and everyone comes back.

3 in a row!!!

So is this the new normal?? Millan must have been embarrassed by the reprimand cause he played great.

The attendance issue has been building for last two years. Season ticket sales are off a bunch and walkups. As far as students, seems everyone I know has their kids home from college since Friday. What? No MOnday/Tuesday classes anymore before T'Day??

Apparently RSIG went nuts this weekend and didn't allow anybody in the student sections if they didn't have tickets for 118/108, which many students don't. They'll get random tickets for 117 or 115 and go sit in 118/sneak in. That normally happens on weekends when NESN is there because NESN hates when their microphones pick up the "F em up" chant.

I heard the Dog Pound sold 300 tickets to students for the away game at BC the first weekend of December. Not sure if that's true.

I can say that the ticket prices are impacting me. I would love to take my boys to a couple games, and I will take them to at least one. However, dropping $75 just to get the three of us in makes me not want to do this regularly. UNH, Lowell, and Merrimack are all closer to me (and I believe cheaper), so I sometimes look to catch the team on the road. I know we need to pay for the arena, but when tickets were $8, even $15, it really didn't seem like a financial commitment. Now it is.

Agreed. Prices are higher as are concessions. Beer went form $4.50 to $6.50 in just a few seasons :(. I used to bring a lot of friends who aren't BU alumns when tickets were 10-12 dollars cheaper. Now they seem to pass more often. I still think it's a good value, but I'm a huge fan. I'd rather see a packed house.

Ticket prices impact the paying non-student fan but win championships and we attend but only win 60% of games and we don't sends the message that BU fans are fair weather at best.

Student participation should be a given across all levels of success as an activity the student body can rally around. It amazes me that you wouldn't have 2,500 students fighting to get into every game given the population of the school much less maybe 1,000 in sections 118 and 108.

This is the only significant sport on campus and lack of support to sell out every game shocks me in Boston...one of the true hockey towns.

And just to add on, ticket prices and the economy are going in different directions right now, never a good combination. And there seems to be a lot more games being televised which may be another factor.

But aside from these excuses, chances are it's just the product on the ice. This team has been frustrating to follow the last two years and beginning of this year but hopefully they're turning it around.

BU has classes until Tuesday but many professors are understanding if students choose to leave on Friday because of long travel times and how crazy the airlines get around Thanksgiving so that could have had a factor on student attendance. The security is just annoying at this point. There is a difference between doing their job and going to ridiculous levels they are now. This weekend they started walking up and down the rows looking for suspicious water bottles in the student sections as well. I don't know if they have been catching more students with "drinks" inside Agganis or what the deal is with that.

The experience needs to be better for paying customers
How about showing all the goals on replay not just the BU goals
All schools need to adopt this
How about giving out of town updates not just twice a game ( smartphones solve this)
when I got home from BU game Friday I watched end of BC game
Also two other college hockey games were on tv at that time
On a much different scale the NFL is having problems getting fans in seats in some area
Hi-def makes a big difference

Having been a frequent critic of his play, I must acknowledge that Escobedo
has improved markedly, recently.

They asked me earlier in the year to take my hat off when I walked into the arena to check and see if I was hiding anything under it. Their claim was that apparently lots of empty nips have been found on the ground after the game. Organize some people and try and put a stop to the overbearing security in a diplomatic way. I can tell you there are some people within BU who do not agree with the overbearing level of RSIG. Additionally, there have been instances in the past at non-BU sporting events where RSIG got themselves and the arena into trouble for grossly mishandling certain situations with arena guests.

Not certain, but I'm willing to bet that Jack has decided not to show the visiting teams replays.

I want to see them too.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

The ushers have to do a better job holding people up top until stoppages in play. There have been a few times this season when people were heading down towards seats while play was goin on and a goal was scored. In some cases some of these folks look like deer in the headlights and don't even know what section they are in and seated fans are unhappy.

Also is it chic to arrive late?

You just answered why it's not that big a deal that they don't show them more times than during the intermissions. And if an out of town game was that important, they would show it more than twice. I believe they have done that in the past.

OK, maybe it's because I'm really tired but what quoted above has anything to do with the customer experience? Do you mean you can stay home to watch college hockey instead of going to see it live?

As for showing replays of opposing team's goals, why promote BU giving up goals? Doesn't bother me. Only reason I would want to see it is if it was questionable, and then they normally wouldn't show that anyway.

Friday night when BU met the Cane's challenge, there was a chicken clucking noise. First time I heard it. Thought it was pretty funny. But they didn't use it Saturday. Wonder why.

Anyone notice they haven't had a "What Year Was It?" quiz since the second screw up?

Not everyone has a smart phone. It seems like they could find a few seconds on the jumbotron during stoppages of play to update the fans on scores from around Hockey East.

If a goal is scored I want to see it again, and it seems like a waste of the jumbotron not to show it. As a paying fan it's one of those things where I understand why they don't do it, but when you're there it seems petty that a pretty goal is scored you're denied a chance to see it again, basically for no other reason than spite.

I'll agree on that out of town scores should be given more often. Unless I missed it, there was no updates given of the BU-Wake Forest womens' soccer NCAA game. Kind of dissapointing.

I think you are in the small minority in wanting to see goals against BU. I don't have any need to see it again! :) Not sure what they would show, but I'm not convinced that showing the frowning faces of the student section after those goals is the best way to go either.

So the wave is disgusting but a chicken clucking noise is acceptable?? :D

Interesting that the challenge would entail something that would involve BU giving up shots?? (25 saves by BU goalie) BU had only given up 4 at the end of the first when they announced the challenge! Luckily, a flurry of crappy shots at the beginning of the 3rd sealed the deal. The UNH team must have been hungry. Sadly, no cluckle.

Embarassing that the video board still hasn't been repaired. The only good reason I would think is that they need to lower it to ice level and they are going to do that over break.
