Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

A little news from North Dakota...it sounds like BU and UND have scheduled a series in the coming years. Coach Hakstol announced it on the weekly wednesday update, but didn't give a date, or even where the series would be held. I was curious if anyone here had any additional insight? If not, I'm looking forward to the series whenever it is.

Ah timing. (I know you didn't mean it, but it's interesting none-the-less.)

Getting back to that excellent piece Versus put together: I can't believe that was 15 years ago. Jesus, I'm old. Still the single biggest rollar coaster plunge I've ever experienced. *shudder* We love you Travis. Keep fighting the good fight.

Took me a second to get what you meant regarding the timing. Still a tear-jerker to see his story. I would pay good money for that American flag painting of his that they showed. I wonder if he sells anything like that to raise money for the foundation. I'll have to check out the website.

Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

Looking for some advice now that we are moving back to MA.

Verizon FIOS is not available for our new house. They have a bundle with DirecTV. I know that in Atlanta, if you had DirecTV, NESN would black out the Sox and Bruins becasue they want you to buy the MLB and NHL packages. Does the same thing apply even if you live in regular NESN territory? If so, are there any other options without paying an arm and a leg? I don't care so much about the Sox, I want the Bruins and of course the Hockey East games. Also, does DirecTV carry CBS College Sports, or whatever CSTV became? Anything else I should be thinking about? How often does Satellite TV lose it's signal?

Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming that you know all the Comcast options, yes? I have the sports package and get a bunch of the sports stations from the midwest, as well as CBS College Sports, ESPNU, and The Big Ten Network. On any given Friday/Saturday night, I have 3-4 college hockey games to watch. I love it. Oh, and I also get the Red Zone channel, which is the greatest invention ever.

I know nothing about DirectTV.

I have the same thing at my house (Comcast w/ the sports package). I also don't know much about DirecTV, but I can't really imagine there are too many better options for a sports fan than the Comcast route.

I live in Fairfield County, CT. BU season ticket holder since Agganis opened and drive up 5 or 6 times yearly for Fri-Sat nite games but love my Friday night hockey games on DirecTV. There are 3 or 4 packages available, and a few offer sports packages that give you most everything available thru ESPN, regional Fox Sports channels, BTN, CBS, etc. You're shut out for Bosox , Bruins or Celts unless you buy the MLB, NHL or NBA packages but get all other NESN programming, including all Hockey East games. Not unusual to catch teams like Minny, NoDak and Wisco on any given weekend in addition to Hockey East and BU games.

DirecTV is that plus Sunday Ticket & usually cheaper.

I have it at home and lose signal during violent thunderstorms.

Anyone on campus has probably seen the new signs BU put up this year pointing out various major buildings on campus, well I was just driving west down Comm Ave and just before Babcock St was a sign indicating I should turn right if I was going to "Brown Arena" I have never heard of this strange place;)

Honestly though, I have never heard anyone every refer to the rink as Brown Arena, and I'm sure they could have squeezed in 6 more letters.

True. And interesting that it was always Walter Brown Arena and it's Agganis Arena (Not Harry Agganis Arena.)

Actually, in that Versus feature on Travis Roy, you hear the announcers say "Brown Arena" when they show the footage of that game. I had never heard anyone call it that before that clip.
