Warsofsky is an exception, as he is one of the most skilled players we've seen in a long time. I wonder if staying at Cushing vs. U-17s helped him, along the lines of the games vs. practice that Parker mentioned (i understand he meant more for younger kids).

I am guessing the blues are going to want to get a hold of warsofsky as soon as they can. he will probably be gone after this year

The Blues have no need to rush his contract clock when he's developing well at BU. I wouldn't say the probability of him leaving is very high.

the blues only have 3 defensemen under contract for next year and the blues management has been known for calling on the younger players. ie Patrik Berglund, BJ Crombeen, David Perron, TJ Oshie, Erik Johnson, Roman Polak

All of those guys are on the blues active roster and were under contract before they were 20

Not to change the subject, but those facepainting fanboys are at it again. What losers.

They have four guys under control for next year, plus Erik Johnson, who is a restricted free agent, and there's no way they let him walk.

I'm not sure Warsofsky is to the point where he's ready to walk in and be an NHL defenseman, either. He'll need some time to season in the AHL, namely to work on his positioning. Getting a little bit stronger would aide him, too, and another year with Mike Boyle would do him well.

Not to mention they have Ian Cole and David Rundblad, both of whom are much more NHL-ready than Warsofsky.

And it's not like the only option is to promote prospects. I'm sure they will be looking to sign defensemen in the off-season.

I heard they had their eye on a big young forward who was capable of being converted back to defense, I believe his name was Alex Greer, has anyone heard anything about him?

He is practicing in secret at Walter Brown Arena! I've heard he is a "sure fire cant miss NHL caliber power forward" :D

I just hope that he's able to overcome his health issues.

Indeed.

NO WAY!? :p

Warsofsky was underrated in the draft I think, but NHL teams aren't jumping at undersized defensemen. Mobility and scoring ability is huge in the 'new NHL,' but if you try to think of the 10 best d-men, they're all big and fast. David still has a tough road ahead to get into the league, and if the Blues try to use your reasoning to lure him into signing a contract that will mean he's riding buses in the AHL.

I wasn't sure who you were, but by triangulating the e-mail (which had somehow been filtered to the spam folder, thanks for the heads up), your public profile's b-day, and the b-day of the e-mail's author via Facebook, I think I got it. :D

well yea that is why teams like two way contracts. You cant tell me that you think Gilroy is a better defencemen then Dave? and dave has got a much better offense.

I really can tell you that I think that. Maybe not when Gilroy was Dave's age, but that's not the issue. We know that with Gilroy's size he can translate his game much more easily to the NHL. If Warsofsky gets into the NHL, it might even be as a forward, it's that hard for a defenseman his size to make it.

Teams do like two-way contracts, and he'll get one no matter when he's signed. However, that doesn't change when he will become a free agent, so if St. Louis does think he needs more time to develop, they can get it for free without starting his clock here.

Defencemen? Are you Canadian? Do they have good maple syrup in southern California?
