Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

You can't fault Eichel for going to BU. This isn't the last player that will pass on BC. Great program, great fans, great coach, just to many bodies. Im still convinced others will de-com soon.

Colin Sullivan added to D for 2012. What kind of impact will he have? Don't know the player.

I think he was a Prep league All-Star this past season, definitely a very solid player, with good size AND speed.

By the way, any more news on Alex Kerfoot? Wasn't he supposed to commit around last Christmas? Something just doesn't seem right with this whole situation.....

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

Some reports say he's now decided to stick with Brown; though that could be wishful thinking and BU just had a scholarship open with Clendening going pro, though Parker may need to fill that schollie with a D-Man. Not sure what type of money BC has left, I heard they were saving a spot for Alex Kerfoot, but now I think he's a 2013 recruit. Others could be pushed back like Piazza who missed most of last year with a concussion or Silk who had a disappointing season with the NTDP, though you do have to cut him some slack due to his Achilles injury. At this point, too early to say.....

Ya basically no one has an absolute clue whats going on right now. There's basically been one article that's come out from the pipeline guys, who were very well respected that says he could go to BC or BU but could stay at Brown. Then there was another very bland article from projo with no sources, not even citing one then another "recent" mystery article saying he's probably sticking to Brown.

So here's a breakdown on recruiting for the 2012 class...
Teddy Doherty, Frankie Vatrano, Colin Sullivan, Peter McMullen and Travis Jeke are coming to BC in 2012 DEFINITELY (about as close to %100 as we can get but at this point nothing would surprise me)
Brendan Silk is supposedly coming to BC in 2012 even though he hasn't ever been the same player since his achilles injury and there have been some rumblings of him being pushed out a year until 2013
Matheson is supposedly DEFINITELY coming to BC and DEFINITELY NOT going QMJHL but a lot of people beleive it'll be up to what NHL team drafts him and his comments have deflected the issue a bit. Basically I won't beleive he's coming until he suits up although who knows anyone remember Kenny Ryan?
Piazza is supposedly coming to BC in 2012 even though he barely played this year with concussion issues and we all thought at one point he was pushed back to 2013
Richardson is supposedly coming in 2012 even though he was supposed to be a 2013 but was being pushed up to take Piazza's spot?
Roy could be going to Brown, BU, or BC
Kerfoot could be going to Yale, BC or Harvard in 2012 or 2013

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

With all the talent BC has lined up, I have a hard time seeing where a guy like McMullen, who put up pretty weak numbers in the BCHL, gets much playing time. I feel bad for Brendan Silk as I really think that Achilles injury stunted his development, both mentally and physically, but unless he improves quite a bit, he's also probably looking at lower line duty and/or some time in the stands. So I wouldn't be surprised to see either one de-commit.

McMullen is a legacy and a role player. I think he comes to BC and sticks even if he sees limited time on the ice. BC has always had some back of the roster fillers and he fits the bill. He's a checking line guy that fits well with the rest of the roster.

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

Very surprised Franki Vatrano was not drafted, who just a couple years back was being discussed as a possible 1st rd pick. Didn't tear it up for the NTDP this past year, but still had real solid numbers and was something like 4th or 5th in team scoring; plus I think he had an excellent plus/minus. He's not tall but at 5'10", 215 lbs I don't see him getting pushed around much. Also a good kid who isn't injury prone. Biggest knock I heard was average skating but also has a cannon for a shot. Final CSB ranking something like 88th, so again something doesn't add up to me?

Was he even invited to the combine? He's got strange measurables if you look at it from an NHL scout perspective. Some guys can just play... we'll see, but I bet he is one of those types of guys.

Great shot but not a great skater. We'll see how he fits in with the speed of the BC forwards. I could see him on a line with hayes and straight.
