Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

2 more names to keep an eye on as possible 2014/2015 recruits...
J.J. Piccinich from the New Jersey Avalanche (Birdsall's teammate) via Parasmus and will play next year for the Youngstown Phantoms. Had a very strong showing at Nationals and was one of the final 40 players at the NTDP camp. Reported interest from Harvard, Yale, Brown, Princeton, Boston College and Providence.
From Jason Koehler director of Youngstown Player Personnel,

Another name to keep an eye on is Joe Wegwerth from the Brewster Bulldogs and will play next year with the U17 USNTDP, with BC commit Alex Tuch. This area of new york has been a big recruiting area with York and co. Also Wegwerth trains daily in the offseason every day with Steve Santini, a 2013 dmen recruit from the U18 NTDP. Wants to play college hockey, has stated it numerous times and supposedly everyone is trying to get him. Already a 6'2" 200 lb forward with a pro style of play.[/QUOTE\]

Piccinich has committed to BU according to multiple sources. Not sure if BC came off him a bit or BU just came on him real strong. Not a big loss with the guys they already have coming.

Keep an eye on Dylan Malmquist from Edina HS in MN. I believe York has personally taken trips out here to scout him. I've heard the family wouldn't mind seeing the kid out east. Not sure if he'll end up at BC but it wouldn't shock me either. He's still pretty young though so we'll see if he can keep developing to earn such things.

The other one to keep an eye on locally is Bobby Carpenter's son. He missed last year due to a freak injury, but he is a strong skilled 15 year old that can shoot it. He plays tough too.

As we all know, his sister is a dynamo for the women's team, so there's a connection. We'll see if he continues to develop, but he should be on the radar.

the fact that he can't skate well probably hurt him

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

Opening night in the USHL last night was a big one for Austin Cangelosi. 1-3-4 line in his first game. Was +4. A great start. McGlynn continued his scoring. He posted 4 g and 1 a in two pre-season games. Last night he scored his first of the regular season and was +2 with 5 shots. Another nice start for the USHL rookie.

Two players to watch this year.

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

Cangelosi is on pace to score over 200 points this year! :D

So what is it with BC and all these short little Italian dynamos (Emma, Gionta, Voce, Gerbe, Cangelosi)?

Good news on McGlynn, you'd have to think goals in all his first three games now is more than just beginners luck; this kid is GOOD!!

Austin Cangelosi with the Hat-trick tonight. I think it's safe to say that this guy is gonna be good! :D

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013

Tough to find updates on Prep players; Here's one on 2014/2015 recruit Joey Dudek of Kimball Union,
Forward: JD Dudek – Kimball Union – NE-Prep

Commitment: Boston College

Dudek, a transfer from Pinkerton High in NH, has come into an already loaded KUA team and made a nice little home for himself by leading the team in goals. No small feat on a team with senior snipers Nick Roberto (Maine), Niko Rufo (Providence), as well as sophomore AJ Greer (Penn State). Even when KUA matriculates this massive class of talent, they will have a nucleus of what will be likely over 40 goals returning in Greer and Dudek alone – as juniors.
