Boston College Hockey 2026 - 2027

Hagens and Powell were likely told they were not guaranteed a regular rotation. Very poor judgement if that is the case. Certainly could have used both of them this year. I am thinking the same about Korec. Please give him another chance.

BU will probably get close to scoring double digits on BC at some point this season.

Just make sure you finish in the top 2 in Hockey East because Greg Brown is singlehandedly taking an NCAA bid off the table for the league (maybe more if that's possible?). It's funny until Greg Brown costs YOU an NCAA tournament bid.
I will go to the games but that's about it. I am concerned about losing future recruits under GB.

At least there's something to root for with the new coach and revamped Hoops team. If Obrien can get two more wins I'm content with the football team. At least they exceeded two wins and possibly a win against SU & an FSU team that just fired its coach.

For those calling for Jan Korec to step in: you’re delusional.

He had his shot last year and cloutier 100% outplayed him. Nothing has changed. No offense to Korec, who I’m sure is a great kid. Can Henrique’s play better that cloutier? Maybe. But in no way has he proved that to be the case yet. Browns job is to continue to give henriquez chances until he proves he is not his own worst enemy . If he doesn’t he suffers the same fate as Korec. Regardless cloutier is the guy.

As for Powell, he went back to the Ushl and regrouped just like amico for bu. He’s a good player. But when bc had minnetian, forestscu, and Gustafson he was always going to be lower on the list. He bet on himself and moved on and that was clearly a good move. You can’t be anything but happy for Seamus Powell but it wasn’t in the cards for him at bc given who he was competing against. And that’s ok. Powell and the Mack are better off for it. Did bc lose out? At the time no. In the long run yes. Again it was a good call for Powell and more power to him.

No idea about hagens. Obviously a good player and maybe so good he was pissed he had to be multidimensional and play forward at bc. Vermont seems like a good landing spot for him and he’s obviously making the most of it. I hope he has a killer year. His brother certainty reps bc well.

With respect to bc, I’m not sure how you have a seriously competitive hockey team with 5 defensemen getting serious minutes (Joyce, beauschencne, and malgrave out). That’s just bad luck. You can’t predict injuries. And on top of that, a bunch of decent developing forwards are out as well. Vanhanenen is potentially a special player but guys like the mutryn brothers are likely three or four year players (like Stiga) and I personally believe those are the guys that, sprinkled with a potential first rounder like Alexis Joseph, win championships. We’ll see.

With respect to this season, not a great situation. But whatever. I hope the dmen get serious minutes and develop (Woodall is going to prove to be a big time college man despite never being drafted. I think beauschence will be a good one too), The roster composition is one for the long run, but I admit this year doesn’t look great.

Bu was awful last year and they bounced back. Bc will do the same.

Terrific post. Great point about the BC D corp when Powell 1st got there. Always liked Minnetian's game, an absolute rock and I'm guessing he may also have been a leadership kind of guy (seems like that's missing for you guys this year).
What's your perspective on the coaching situation giving that a LOT of the BC fans here have some very strong opinions?

Our long nightmare is over. Alaska has managed to get their 2nd win last night over at Warrior Arena in Brighton, squeeking out a 2-1 win over powerhouse Stonehill. Their 3-goal outburst in Chestnut Hill remains their high-water mark offensively. With Alaska and Denver winning and SCSU getting a tie, it was a good night for BC (aside from blowing a 2-goal lead twice on their own home ice) and they remain a hopeful 1% likely to make the NCAA tournament. If anyone can do it, it's Greg Brown, who has a strong winning %, and his tandem of elite goaltenders (combined save % of .867, third best in the country if you reverse sort the stats chart)

You see two goal leads blown all the time, but never twice with two 6 on 5 goals. Would have been nice to have had the TO at the very end to rest his D but they gave it up for goal review. It was a Hail Mary to have that one called back, IDK what he was thinking on the call for a review. LC was not the reason for the loss, poor defensive coverage at the end with a pretty worn out defense. Rado play plus 30 minutes and Woodall was not far behind. ON to UMass, expecting no better than a split.
