Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

One guy no one seems to mention for next year is Cam Spiro, from Tabor Academy. He is not listed on Chris Heisenberg's site, as he will be a walk-on. He was one of the leading scorers in New England prep school hockey the last two years.

I had a chance to watch him play a few times this year and he reminded me of Pat Mullane, with a better offensive game, but probably not as good defensively. I expect him to be on one of the top three lines all year (especially if Destry Straight doesn't come).

With some of the basketball players I've seen play for BC, Vinny must have really dug himself a huge hole.

I kind of agree here. I have to think this is more of Jerry realizing what kind of kid this is and having second thoughts. I think kids deserve second and third chances, but from what I've heard Vinny used all of those up.

At first I was kind of shocked that Coach York took this kid in considering his histroy and relationship with Parker.

Maybe he had second thoughts and was looking for a way out?

Then again, maybe he's really the worst potential student-athlete as compared to all your current football and basketball athletes and applicants?

he is solid but does not have a better offensive game than Mulane. After watching Mullane over past few weeks, it was clear he really picked it up. If this new recruit does, I think BC will be thrilled. Have watched and dont see Mullane level

Not really trying to butt in, but you also have to realize that Mullane was a sophomore in college this year, having already played under York, while this kid was a senior in high school.

According to Atkinson, he is a member of the Hobey Hat Trick which won't be officially announced until Thursday.

Awesome news, but I have to think Miele wins in a landslide.

I don't know about this. By all accounts it really was that he simply couldn't get past admissions. There was a USHR article that confirmed it way back when (I think).

I agree but when Mullane was in jr's he was a highly sought after high end prospect.

The new player is fine but not at PM's level

From what I heard the Hobey vote is closer than you think.

who knows. it seems unlikely that he wouldnt get by admissions. although he could have possibly been ineligible at bu as we know parker doesnt require you to go to class. so grades could have come in late and stopped his tracks.. or York could have picked up steam on the recruiting trail and gotten good news from someone he didnt think was going to come and suddenly had no room.

if you look at the lineup for next year, we already have too many forwards. denying saponari, while talented, was probably part of the easiest solution to avoiding a cedorchuck situation.

The only hope I think Cam has of winning the Hobey is if the proverbial "split Western vote" materializes. Frattin seems like a shoo-in to me.

I actually think Miele is a lock...

give it to Cam!

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

Word on campus is that the Frozen Four loss was largely because two of our main players were not in the game in a sense.
Cam had just found out before the game about his offer from Columbus, and was completely checked out.
Muse had just heard that he was not getting an offer from Columbus (apparently they thought they would play together?) and so his head was not in the game - my friend said he was devastated.
That's really disappointing about Cam; kinda selfish if he wanted to end the season so he could go pro earlier. As for Muse, that just sucks. Two national championships, and he couldn't even get an amateur tryout contract??

Who would tell him such a thing before a regional weekend? If they knew it why wouldn't they wait until after the games and let the 2 weeks before the FF soften the blow. Someone must have had wrong intentions or was just plain numb.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

Anybody in Eagle land have a pair to the FF? With all the greenies up there the market is insane. Trying to take my daughter to her first one and it aint looking good. Please PM me if you have a pair at cost. Thanks!

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

Hey guys,

As a graduating senior with debt and little prospect of a decent job, I have been forced to sell some of my BC stuff in order to pay for my necessary expenses. I was wondering if any of you had an idea of what the following items could bring in on, say, ebay or something:

2010 Frozen Four shirt signed by both BC and Wisco
Jersey signed by 2008 NC team (Kucharski signed it twice)
Nate Gerbe signed puck
Jamie Silva game-worn football jersey
Doug Flutie signed BC jersey
Doug Flutie and Gerard Phelan signed BC mini helmet

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

I wish it was a Frozen Four loss. At least BC would have won two games and lost to national champion UND...

Anyway, I don't care what the word on campus is. I don't buy it for one second that Cam was checked out. I say this because everyone knew he was leaving anyway. He knew it. Columbus knew it. It wasn't a development.

I also don't buy for one second that Muse was "checked out". Even if he was, he wasn't the reason they lost.

By word on campus, I meant one of the player's girlfriend.

Maybe Cam wasn't trying to lose to make the season end sooner, but he still wasn't focused.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

i'm not buying any of that either. the team had a flaw,it was soft defensively and CC took advantage of it. Cam could have had the money last year and he came back to try to win back to back, i doubt that within four games of his/their goal he would have "checked out"

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

D was brutal, end of story. CA played his tail off and new he was leaving months ago, told anyone who asked.. Didnt get one dime extra than he always knew what he was getting....

zero validity to that bs theory

no clue about Muse but feel his track record speaks for itself. way above that type of crap

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part III - Championship Season Has Begun

Far from me to agree with Hokydope but he's right. We all knew Cam was gone the entire season. For him to come as close as he was to leaving after 2010 and to put up the same numbers again? He was gone.

With regards to Muse, I haven't had the balls to watch the DVR yet but how many did people think he should've had? 1? 2? The D was a joke a week ago. Neither of them were the reason we lost.
