Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Looks like the Eagles roster will be a lot thin next week in Pittsburgh. Two forwards, two D and one goaltender playing in the World Junior Championship. F's Colin White and Julius Mattila, D Casey Fitzgerald and Jesper Mattila, G Joe Woll.
Also, forwards Ryan Fitzgerald and Austin Cangelosi were out with injury in our last game. No word on their status.

BC teams have been in this position over the years. Everyone will have to step it up to get it done.
Go Eagles!

Merry Christmas all!

And the best Eagle there is Tolvanen playing for Finland

Was coming here to post about the wjc. Gonna be a strange lineup in the holiday tournament, will be tough.

I think everyone should just do the david quinn and try to shut down your schedule during the wjc as best you can ;)

And so we meet again...

Has anyone found a video feed for the Pittsburgh tourney games?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Today's result reinforces the need to stop playing in these Christmas tournaments with depleted rosters.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Certainly a valid point but I don't think it's gonna change under York. He always looks to play in these. He said after the game it gives other players bigger roles which can ultimately help them and the team going forward.

Ferris State in the consolation game. Need to win that one. He did seem to indicate Ryan Fitzgerald is close. Maybe not tomorrow but I think Fenway game is a possibility. Will be nice when the team is back together as they are capable of some good things down the stretch. And they are gonna need a good close to the season to secure a spot.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

I agree with J.D. Jerry loves these tournaments. His team won't get any better sitting home watching.
FWIW, I don't recall ever having so many guys (5) participating the same year in World Juniors in the past? Usually 2-3? Anyone know?

I'm guessing Ryan Fitz at BU the 13th if he's ready. Even if good to go, the Fenway ice could be a little tricky on a weak ankle.

OK Eagles. Let's rebound and get a win against Ferris State!

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

I think you're right. Can't remember having more than 5 before. Plus a coach.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Anyone going to Fenway Sat?

there will never be anything remotely close to the first one. It was epic (an over used word but appropriate here) even with the loss to BU. That game catapulted the Eagles to the NC. 11 degrees with swirling snow , truly a never again type of setting. Place packed with BC and BU fans, what could ever beat that?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

I am still cold from thinking about that game. My god was that brutal in the stands! Was definitely pumped for it though. But, you couldn't pay me to go to another one. Eventually you run out of suckers for these events.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

I get cold at Conte. 5:00 start, snowing, temp in the low 20's and the wind chill in the low teens. Good luck to the hale and hearty.

My dad still talks about how great it was being in Fenway in the snow. And we were in the front row down on the 3rd base line and couldn't see a gd thing.

At this point, these games are rtarded.

That game is 2010 was kind of magical. It was the first one, coupled with the NHL's Winter Classic. At one of the most historic venues. The two previous national champions and big rivals playing against each other. And it was right after the WJCs. Did they ever acknowledge the kids on both teams that won gold? I can't remember. So very cold and the snow just made it something special. I had so many layers on.

I decided last night after BU won and then Team USA won that I was going to go, plus my friend had an extra ticket. I figured, it's the 1:30 game, no precipitation, just cold. How bad could it be? Now? It's supposed to snow. Big sigh. This will not be like the magical snow in 2010. I hate winter.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

I have no problem with the cold. I've gone fishing in similar conditions and have the gear for it. I was comfortable outside in 2010, although, my buddy was wearing sneakers. I just looked at him and asked, "W_T_F is the matter with you?" Seriously.... some folks need to have their head examined before participating in various adventures. :D
It's the sight lines. I want to see the game. Can't see the game very well in an arena not designed for hockey. That is all.

FWIW... first time I was lower level, 3rd base line. Second time, roof seat, 3rd base line. The roof was better but too far away.
