Re: Boston College Eagles 2013-2014 season thread -Speed returns to The Heights

Dumbass, the rule book was published last year for a two season period. It's already been debunked that offsides can only be reviewed in NCAA tourney play. Thus, the rule book as it reads now is not entirely accurate. The memo that was sent this summer was NOT to emphasize an existing rule written in the rule book, it was an amendment if you will. That amendment did not properly exclude internet streaming as a replay source. That is exactly why they had to clarify their position.

After all this the bottom line is umass did not deserve that goal. And if you think they did, it should leave a bad taste in your mouth. And you only got a tie last night because of a terrible call on santini. Be happy you even got one point out of this weekend and then go play in traffic.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2013-2014 season thread -Speed returns to The Heights

Finally, you wouldn't send a memo emphasizing a rule that we now know is not accurate in the rule book to begin with. While we don't have the exact contents of the memo, we do know that it did not properly exclude internet streaming review. Case closed.

Not great either when you consider that the games were against NU, UMass, and an apparently horrific BU team.

9 out of 10 points is great no matter who they have played. We're talking HE games here, it's a tough league.

I always get a kick out of umass fans. What a dumb team. Halfway through yet another snoozer with this worthless program I questioned what the point is of their existence. They really should just nuke that program. Never win anything. Never going to win anything. Just there to give us boring games that provide no entertainment.

While BC's defense is definitely upgraded compared to last year, I still think they are having to rely upon the same 4 or 5 forwards day in and day out to put the puck in the net. Sure Sit had that 3 goal outburst earlier in the year and Quinn can at times show some offense, but overall the bottom 2 lines are basically both 4th lines, at least at this point. I have pretty much given up on Silk and would like to see what Richardson can do, especially on one of the top lines. A third line of Calnan, Gilmour and Straight could prove to be effective perhaps.

I can't believe Jerry knowingly convinced the officials to make an illegal review. I always thought he had more integrity than that.

Pretty awesome ability Jerry has had at getting really high end recruits to commit to BC late in the process. And for those of you that don't know, Sonny Milano has decommitted from Notre Dame and has committed to BC for the fall of 2014 according to the Kid. One of the top 3 recruits in the country.

Will help cushion the blow of losing Johnny, Kevin, and Arnold after the season.

Very happy milano opened things up and wasn't happy with his initial decision! To be honest, I don't know why any top forward prospect would want to play for jeff jackson

They want to have a productive NHL career? BC isn't exactly churning out NHL forwards in the past 20 years other than Gionta it's been slim pickings on forwards that have actually been productive.

So, you all still think that York knows the rules better than everyone else?

You are somehow getting dumber with every post. The link doesn't back you up, it backs me up:

"Second, offsides can only be reviewed in games that are televised, an expansion of the existing rule that previously limited review of offside and too many men on the ice to post-season championships only. The rule was extended to cover regular season televised games per a July memo from the NCAA"

I tried telling you that the memo sent in July was not an emphasis on an existing written rule in the rule book, it was an amendment to the rule. To spell that out for you, that amendment is not in the rule book as the rule book was published last year. In a previous link/quote, Bertagna or whoever it was already admitted that the memo did not specifically exclude internet streaming replay. What exactly do you not understand about this? It's why they had to make the clarification that going forward, internet streaming replay is not allowed. Get it through your head. I'm still amazed though that you're upset your team wasn't credited with a goal that was scored illegally to begin with. Care to address that? Actually, no, please don't.

"actually been productive"...can only imagine what your definition of that is. i'm sure you'd define it so that it makes the BC forwards that are in the league look bad. anyway:

Cam Atkinson
Brian Boyle
Patrick Eaves
Benn Ferriero
Nathan Gerbe
Brian Gionta
Stephen Gionta
Jimmy Hayes
Chris Kreider
Ben Smith
Chuck Kobasew
Krys Kolanos
Marty Reasoner

Have all at the very least had a cup of coffee in the NHL.

I know Jackson coached elsewhere years ago, but what "productive" forwards has Jackson sent on to the NHL during his time at ND? Certainly not as many, nor the quality of the forwards BC has produced.
