BOSTON COLLEGE 2025 - 2026

Big win for sure, and gritty too. Warriors are tough, they try to shorten the game, wait for a mistake and then pounce. Berard and Fortescue both drew iron tonight. Big series next week with Uconn,.

FYI
Saturday's game is 3:00 PM at Peoples Bank Arena or formerly the XL Center with UConn
at least there, there will be available tickets and places to park with restaurants as opposed to the Toscano Rink on campus

BIG games coming up this weekend.

As much heat as our NU friend has taken for coming here and performing some of the lamest trolling ever seen on this board (3-9-1 since), his point does still stand 2.5 months later and BC has not beaten an even remotely good team yet this season and it seems like this weekend is the last chance to do so. If you play stupid games against Yukon, you will win stupid prizes as they are indeed a good team.

Friday was a disaster after starting off with a nice 2-0 lead, felt like they were finally going to have a nice easy game and my blood pressure would benefit from it. Nope. Ugh. How about that beauty of a SHG from Dean? Unbelievable season so far for him considering what things looked like last season. You don't do something like this without character and work ethic and probably a good support system too.

Saturday was a battle and encouraging for a few reasons and nice to see them finally get a good bounce go their way in a close one. As mentioned, Berard was fantastic especially in the 3rd where he crunched two MC players on one shift about 3-4 minutes into the period and then had a 2-on-1 shot clank off the iron. Hemming finally got one to go in and maybe this opens the floodgates for him. Hard to believe he's 17. Given the Berard physicality and Hemming's involvement physically (he was very engaged) I think it does stand out that BC can get physical with teams and win some battles. You have to punch these teams back once in a while and make them think. Merrimack has the feel of a heavy NCHC type team + QU/Cornell that normally dominates this program so it's good to show that they can handle this type of game. Whether it was a fluke or not remains to be seen.

The Justin Gill thing is a disgrace and there's no debating this.

Turnovers are still an issue. One horrendous one on Saturday led to an entire sequence that almost cost them the game. Turnover on a dump in (I believe trying to buy a call) --> MC puck possession in BC zone --> Hemming penalty --> Sondreal getting his head squashed on the PK (I think) --> MC PPG. All from one terrible turnover and turtling to try to get a call from the official.

Certain guys have a habit of shooting pucks directly into the shins of defenders that are up on them and it kills the PP and is eventually going to cause issues with breakaways going the other way.

Cloutier/Defense - It is surprising to see BC keep teams to such low shot numbers in the first and second period and disappointing that most of the time the save % is down around 80% in these frames as evidenced by the above statistics. One extra save here and there can flip a whole lot of results and if it's not hovering around 90% the rest of the way these guys are done.

I am a fan of Will Traeger when he's in the lineup, he's better than he gets credit for and his forechecking created some scoring chances the other night.

How about BC vs BU in a 3/6 matchup at Conte for the QFs?

Where in the hell is Jellvik? Am I wrong that he's been considered "day to day" for a good while now? Absolutely maddening.

Going back to the first point, show me you can win some big games. Dropping two games sandwiched around a Beanpot win makes it kind of hard to have a ton of confidence. If you want to go to the NCAA tournament, now is the time to decide and play like it.

Agree on Traeger, energy guy, very fast on his skates and always seems ready to go. Berard is a built, very strong and he is someone the other teams like to know where he is at all times. Goes into the corners and comes out with the puck. Berard took on the Captain's role Saturday night led them to a very gritty win. I don't know Gill's story but a 23 yo Freshman who was drafted in 2023 and has been in pro camps does not seem to fit with college hockey. But we are in the era of few rules and literally no questions. Probably a one and done like a number of these guys on Merrimack and Lowell.

6 seasons in the Q. 35 games last year in the AHL (he was -26). He belongs in beer league at this point or intramurals at Merrimack (given his pro experience I wonder if he'd even be eligibile for intramurals which is kind of a funny but serious question). Either way, it's a damn disgrace.

It is a good thing they can limit teams on SOG but it is negated by goals allowed on just a few shots putting BC in the hole. The problem is the turnover in their end whether through careless passing and blind drop passes. It just seems they are too loosey goosey at times and over confidence like they're in a practice BUT they're not, they're in a real live game situation which can be fatal especially in a one and done situation. The dumb penalties lately by Hagens and other players committing the same egregious mistakes.

Do you blame it on the coaches or both ? Blame the player on repeat offenders and the coaches for not reminding them especially late in the season when every little thing matters. Didn't York use to bench guys a shift or two or even a period ?

Very strong first period by BC lots of good chances and two goals by Hagens. Need another two periods just like in the first. Well the second period was Uconn, bad turnover by Stiga which led to the first goal. Uconn dominated most of the period, but a PP opportunity for Hagens at the end of the period is the difference right now. Great pass from Conmy to set up Hagens. Need a much cleaner third period to get the win. Uconn is very solid and Cav a to couches a tough physical game.

Rejoice. BC has beaten a good team. It took almost 5 months but they did it! Needed this one and always huge to win on Friday night and take the pressure off for the Saturday game. Tomorrow is also a must-win IMO given the remaining schedule and the bubble situation.

That first period was brilliant but they evaporated it quickly starting with a GHASTLY turnover by Stiga to start the 2nd. Why can't I have a low blood pressure during these games?!?

Dean almost made the steal/snipe on the first shift right after trucking a guy down the other end. Really set the tone for the period even though he went over the crossbar on the shot.

Hagens could have had a hat trick in the first given his one-timer that missed the entire net by a few inches on the far post on the first PP.

Minnetian... he is always excellent but he was absurdly good in the first; he was everywhere and it looked like the Bugs Bunny cartoon when he played every position. Really he was fantastic all game but he was in complete control of the ice when he was out there in the first.

Cloutier with some tough saves (7) in the first including a shoulder save in a 0-0 game and a tough save at the buzzer. Cannot fault him at all for the two goals against.

Second period was a disaster. Gasseau was dominant in the first on faceoffs (6-1) but went cold in the second at the faceoff dot (2-6) and that helped Yukon keep possession most of the period. The game was flipped on its head with a foolish penalty by a Yukon player that allowed BC to eventually work it to Hagens for the hat trick.

Gasseau with 3 assists and played a big boy game. Him and Hemming and Letourneau really played big boy games using their frames to shield the puck and hammering guys out there. Really important.

PP was ridiculous and almost perfect (again the missed open net for Hagens).

Third period was a good start first 5 minutes and then they kept icing it and it looked in doubt. But they limited quality chances and managed the puck well. Then Hemming knocked a guy back into the stone age with a clean shoulder to shoulder hit and Cavanaugh foolishly reviewed it and failed and wasted his timeout. Gasseau then set up the Resendes goal shortly after with another great play; speed on the zone entry, dish from below the goal line. What a shot by Resendes. Moore also looked good in his return to the lineup.

Gasseau has been ridiculous since his return.

Quite frankly, probably would have been a blowout and easy win if not for the early turnover in the 2nd.

Muldowney just speared Kostadinski at the buzzer and may be suspended for tomorrow. Box score says MC so not an automatic suspension but the league can review and hand out additional discipline. Given the timing that this happened at the buzzer and clear intent to injure I think the league needs to hand out a DQ on this but as well all know there's a lot of extra chromosomes in the league office so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Where is Jellvik??!?!?!?!!?!???

Must win needed by BC
Stiga almost derailed a strong start by bC single handedly plus taking a penalty
Complete the sweep tomorrow afternoon in Hartford

The turnover was brutal, as a team I have never seen BC gift wrap as many goals as this year, He then took a bad penalty but he did redeem himself a little bit with the ENG. AGree they were be bopping and scatting all over the ice in the first. The PP on Hagens third goal was textbook, pass, pass, pass, shoot, do it again. Don't think it ever left the zone, Rezendes and Moore added some punch and Moore was great in the defensive zone. Gasseau was a beast last night, 3 assists and domiinating all over the ice.
i did not appreciate his impact when he was injured and sitting, I think they would have won a few more with him in the line up. Good win, need another to create some space in the standings.

Hockey East and Yukon can suck it. Bozos.

Good OT road win/sweep. BC in 2nd place by 2 points and pushed Yukon down to 15th as of right now in NPI.

Man that first period was a clownshow.

The ice was terrible all game long and the 3 pm game after a 7 pm game the night before is 100% pure buffoonery.

Gasseau with another power move that led to the OT goal. Plus the faceoff win to start the OT; Yukon never touched the puck. Seems like BC never loses when Gustafsson scores.

Rumor is Jellvik is back practicing and will be back on Friday potentially for BU according to the BC hockey Blog livestream last night (nice job dad).

Minnetian chirping Richard in the box on the hot mic was riveting stuff. Even his chirping game is A+. One of my favorites over the course of watching this program for a long long time.

Cloutier made some big saves down the stretch!

Dean made a tremendous play to set up his own PPG, lifting the stick of a Yukon player who was diving and likely going to clear the puck out of the zone. It kept the puck in, went to Gustafsson at the point, down to Conmy in the corner, who sent it back to Dean for the goal. What a season for Dean. Legendary jump in production right up there with Chris Collins going off in 2005-2006 and maybe Cangelosi in 2015-2016. Both of those teams went to the FF.

Senior leadership comes through. Gustafson went right to the net off of a Gasseau rush. Lucas is terrific and he is solid game in and game out, we are going to miss that guy. Uconn is solid but they are a not so subtle with their sticks. No penalties for either team in the second and third. I thought Hemming was going to put it away when he went in alone but he shot it right at him. Needing to get him moving to open up some space. LC was terrific, pressure win. Good win on the road, puts them in better shape for the post season. Come March no one wants to play BC, kinda of like the old days. Uconn and Umass will be battling it out next week end. That series is a toss up.

What a fun weekend and beating a quality opponent twice. Just made it back on fumes as my gas gauge was bulging zero. Filled up the tank immediately.
Peoples Bank Arena is much better after the renovations. Sat by myself with a flatscreen in front of my table and $6 beer ) But I was good, I didn't play any games or make any bets in the bar.

$10 parking and all I had to do was cross the street and I am in the door.

When UConn plays BC down in Yukon, they should always play here in Hartford, NOT that rinky dink campus arena with not enough seats and not enough parking. Enough seats for everyone in the former XL rink. Is Hartford looking for an NHL franchise ?

Great weekend for BC, earning 5 of 6 points, but after watching both games, they do not look like a tight disciplined team. Using the overused cliche, they all don't appear to be pulling on the same rope. The championship teams of the past had players accepting and excelling in specific roles. This team doesn't seem to have that buy in. It's also odd to have 3 captains for a college hockey team, maybe more proof that Brownie is managing many ego's. I'd love to see the BC program rise up to prominence again, but I just don't see it with this group of individuals. Hope to be proven wrong.

I don’t see egos on this team and think as a total top to bottom unit they gel way better that any team since Boldy, Newhook, Hardman, and Knight. The teams of the past two years were phenomenal with talent but top heavy and the western teams took advantage of that in the tourney. This team has better balance across the four lines. They are in great shape to make the tourney but two against BU this weekend is going to be tough no matter what kind of record bu has.

riveting i agree, but A+ chirps they were not. calling a guy a grand total of 7 months older than you "too old for college" isnt exactly smooth 🤣
