You have to admit, it would be LO-EFFIN-L if Merrimack won a National Title before UNH did. Holy crap would that be funny.

haha it would be funny, do I think that would happen absolutely not. But no one can sit there and say that a program will NEVER win a national title...ever that's just ridiculous. Even if it's not 10 years down the road but 20, it is by far not out of the realm of possibility.

To say that MC will NEVER win a HE title or an NCAA championship is just insane and quite frankly offensively elitist.

Merrimack will win a hockey title after BC wins a NCAA football title. You will notice it will be snowing in hell at that same time, too...

If the 1980 USA team had to beat Russia four times to win the gold (first round, quarters, semi, and final), you'd have a point. It is called a "Miracle" because they would have lost that game 99 of 100 times they played.

The whole 80's olympic's isn't even a good comparison. They weren't expected to win but the US team didn't suck.

Look, it's not elitist or offensive. It's true. And that's the bottom line. It just upsets you and it's one less dream for you to cling on to (I truly hope it is something you realize was not really possible). I'm personally offended that you're insulting everyone's intelligence that you think it's even remotely possible (it is mathematically possible, just not at a reasonable level to ever consider). It is NEVER happening. For millions of reasons. This sport is about to expand with Penn State and perhaps other Big Ten teams. That is bad for Merrimack. It may expand further in a decade to the west coast and PAC10 land ... I hope not but whatever. Additionally, BC and BU are right near Merrimack and will always always always be better. That means they'll get better local kids. And they also recruit the best nationally. Merrimack will get local scraps and fight for them with NU, UVM, UNH, Maine and fight everyone in the country for scraps on the national players in the USHL ... some of these programs are way ahead of MC in the pecking order and always will be as well. You're not going to bring over an entire roster of international Da Costas, Nodls, Nyquists, and Vaneks. Facilities will always be better at the local schools like BC and BU as well. MC has too much to compete with.

I'm going to stop there to keep you from jumping off a bridge... but it is what it is.

That doesn't mean you should stop rooting for them. Just to be realistic about the whole thing.

What's with the ****ing on Merrimack? Don't remember the games being dirty last year. I mean, I'm not putting money on them winning a national championship, but then I wouldn't bet on BC even though I know they are winning this year and then NEXT year to top recent back-to-backs by Minnesota and Denver plus give Vinny the distinction of being the only player to win the national championship with teams at both ends of Comm Ave.

Making fun of No Hardware makes much more sense than picking on MC.

I find that Saponari thing hard to believe.

BC is 12-0-1 since losing to NU back on Feb 19. Let's keep the streak going this wekeend!

I don't see anyone hating on Merrimack here... I think most BC fans like Merrimack and really like Dennehy... just saying that they're building toward being national title contenders is a joke

As for Saponari, ew. Not welcome. I'll get over it the way I got over Ulf Samuelsson's son coming to BC, but ugh. Hated that guy at BU.

If i can recall wasn't there talk when Coach York and GDF sat down after the season that York WOULD hand pick his successor? i know we can't know that for sure but i thought it was talked about here or on EA

The inside of the media guide front cover is awesome.

It shows stats for the top eight programs in the last ten years. BC leads 3 of the four categories:

Championships (1) BC 3, (2) UMN/DU 2
NCAA wins : (1) BC 21, (2) UND 12 (!)
Frozen Fours: (1) BC 6, (2) UND 5
Total Wins: (1) Michigan (boo) 278, (2) BC 257

The guide also has that amazing Gionta photo that I have in my sig.

If Gene has half a brain, he would let Jerry pick the successor, pay him what he's worth, and most importantly, have a 3-5 year transition plan in place.

I'd be interested in winning percentage rather than wins, since I think Michigan plays a lot more games than the Hockey East teams, maybe 5 more/year so....

No matter how you slice it, BC has clearly been the best program in the nation since 1998
