Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

How cute.

**

As a few people mentioned on the other site, one of the other major concerns last night was the ineffectiveness of Whitney-Mullane-Whitney. I remember the Whitney brothers being together to start last year too, only to have them broken up. That combination probably isn't going to work. Which of the top 2 lines gets broken up next week? Or do you stick it out next week and see what happens?

Those guys are all playmakers first and need to be with finishers like Atkinson, Kreider and maybe Gibbons or Hayes.

Dear trolls who "bumped" the thread,

First, I think "bump"ing (as well as trolling) is against forum rules. Second, BC fans don't feel the need to nitpick and insult their players/coaches just because of a few losses. They have confidence in the Eagles which was earned by the team's record over the last 10 years: 3 National Championships, 6 Frozen Fours, 257 wins (2000-01 through 2009-10), etc.

Save your worrying for your own teams, the Eagles are just fine.

LOL. Such a fool. But hey, USCHO told us Maine is back!!! Now maybe your beloved Bears might actually make the NCAA tournament...

Where is Bill Arnold?? If this kid does not get on the milk carton... well....

He's playing on the 4th line...

and nearly scored last night actually. Couldn't corral a puck near the net in the 2nd period. would be interesting to see him given some time with Gibbons, Atkinson, etc.

LOL again

if they can slip 27 by the goalie next game they are back on track for scoring record

Who are you talking to?

Kind of early to be giving up on the kid, but have to agree that Arnold has been a little disappointing thus far, especially considering how much fanfare there was when he committed. Am also wondering how much we are missing Tommy Cross, as he seemed to be the D-Man with the best offensive skills. In any event, it's way, way too early to start getting nervous and it's only a matter of time before this team gets going.

I think it's hard to judge him when he's playing on the 4th line. As for Cross, he definitely appears to be the best goal scoring threat back on D, but even without him this team should be scoring more, period. You gotta think it will happen when they find some good combinations.

~crickets~

?

So really Steve.... ArNOT... 5 points this "weak"? I think so..

Again...?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Really not sure where all these trolls are coming from. It just looks stupid when you're making fun of the defending national champions eight games into a season where said team is 5-3. It's not like they're 0-8.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

5-3 at this point is a strong start. With the tough schedule out of the gate, this team has had to find their chemistry against very good teams. What the haters failed to recognize was the level of play in Friday night's game. Of course they weren't there, yet have a lot to say about it, but that was a great college hockey game. One that will benefit both teams going forward. As we know, championships aren't won in November. We'll see how loud the haters are in March.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

Can we stop talking about Merrimack now? I don't know if it was Steve, Salvo, or someone else who brought it up... but whoever it was, cut the bleep.

UNH tonight - love it. It's always one of the most exciting home games of the year when UNH comes to town. I think the way BC plays tonight will tell us a lot about how this regular season is going to go. If BC comes out, fires on all cylinders and smokes 'em then we may see the 30+ win season people were predicting. If they struggle, we may be in for another one of those up and down first halves, especially with how difficult the schedule is.

100%, it must be Muse tonight, no doubt.

Can't say I follow the college game with the same fervor as the old days, but I was half expecting to check the box score and see 6-2 BC. It seems that UNH's early schedule against ranked teams gave them some confidence to go to newton and play with a better team. Makes me wish I was still in brighton and a walk away from conte :D

Agreed. One of the more entertaining home games I've seen recently. Last year's home game against UNH was great as well. Gotta love watching BC play a team that actually wants to skate up and down the ice, it makes a huge difference in the entertainment factor.

Does UVM stream their games at all?

He did. I was just being a sarcastic jerk. He'll be great by the end of his years at BC. He's got some solid size and seems fairly nimble.

Get a head start on BC men's sweep of Vermont by coming to Conte today at 5 for the women's win over Vermont. Free parking, free game, you just need to bring your own snacks since there are no concessions for WIH. The women are 7-0-2 on the season and #1 in Hockey East.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

I think the 3-1 road trip qualified as a strong start. The recent 2-2 stretch has raised some questions, but at the same time they lost at a very strong home team in Merrimack and a 2-1 defeat to what appears to be a very good UNH team. Now, I'm a little concerned about playing a desperate, winless UVM team in Burlington. Haven't really played all that well up there recently. Big weekend to say the least.

i've been away for a few days and just got back and it's hysterical to see the trolls throw their jabs at the defending national champs and three in the last decade, HE champions (9 times) yadda, yadda, yadda.............will you be around in March?.................thought so. again, you would have thought the trolls would know the script by now so get on with it, have your fun and enjoy, it won't last. congrats to UNH though, from what i can gather they played great, but no surprise there

Very happy to hear that K Hayes injury was not as bad as first thought. Only out 3/4 weeks vs worst case which would have been 6 months+/-. Graet news for BC and a player who is really coming on.

What was the injury? Must have taken place in practice since he was on the ice during the last shift against UNH.

Random thought....John Connolly is the only true non-bias local college hockey reporter. I will stick with the Boston Herald and other national college hockey sites for my college hockey info fix. The bias on this site and in the Boston Globe is nauseating. That's fact not opinion.
