Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

BTW, not sure if there were any game 3s to pick up last year but NBC will have a game friday (my guess is they pick the bc game), NESN will have a game sat (I predict bu) and nesn will also have a gane three on sunday if necessary. Prior to nbc, I know there were years where nesn only picked up one game for the weekend. Pretty good coverage this year. Can't believe there isn't a grapefruit league rebroadcast they aren't showing...

LOL...this is what happens when a team and a TV channel get too cozy: Manufactured 'hysteria' for a team that deserves none.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Though it is without argument that this team is thin compared to recent BC vintages, the relative return to health has to be encouraging. The Vermont matchup in the 1st round is as favorable as any we could have hoped for. The thought of having Alber back (finally) is smile-worthy. And of course, Gaudreaubey Baker going off one game before the postseason starts should warm the cockles of any BC fan's heart.

The only team out there that when running on all cylinders would have to be favored over BC would be MN, other than that, there's really nobody out there that scares me, though teams like Miami, UML and Nodak are very good as well.

Miami and ND must be licking their chops at the prospect of facing BC. Ordinarily it would be, "Send us to any Regional you want...except BC's." UMass Lowell runs the risk of having a 'Happy-to-be-Here' demeanor, and a quick one-and-done for the RiverHawks. Doesn't mean they will; only that they're at the risk of...

Normally I might have been inclined to agree with this, but UML was here last year. This isn't new to them anymore. They may have had that mindset last year. But with back to back NCAA appearances, I am sure that a first round exit would be viewed as a grave disappointment.

I am so much more warm and fuzzy than i was 24 hours ago

JGs best game in months. The most comfortable he's looked in quite a while. I wonder if he was hurt for a while because he didn't look like the same player. If he gets going ...

Still want to see more out of Milner. He really hasnt been outstanding lately.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Maybe part of his problem is that he was well protected by his defense last year but with Cross and Dumoulin gone, and a young inexpereinced D and injuries this season, he's been more vulnerable and less focused. He's been vulnerable to high shots and even a slapshot behind the blueline on him recently.

Needless to say, the team needs him to play championship quality hockey like last year, for the team to do well. How far they go depends on Milner.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

In addition to Gaudreau, I think some other guys like Arnold & Straight have been playing through injuries and are only now getting close to 100%. While we obviously don't have the same scoring depth of the past few teams, we still have 2 of the best forwards in the country in JohnnyG and Whitney and I'll take our top 4 Forwards (those two plus Arnold & Mullane) over any other team in the countries top 4. If Alber comes back anywhere close to 100%, that will be a huge boost going forward as it will really shore up the blueline. Guys like Straight, Smith & Linell are going to really have to pick up their games and take a bit of the scoring pressure off the top 4 and we also obviously need Milner to round into the same playoff form that he did last year.

Strangely enough, since the 1997-98 season, BC has never won between 18 and 24 games. It was either the low of 18 (in 2002 and 2009) or 24 (in 2003) or more. This team is at 20. I think reaching 24 is a realistic possibility. Hopefully they have it in them to go a bit farther.

In hind sight, perhaps some of the forwards have been putting a little too much pressure on themselves and are trying a bit too hard to pick up their game, to make the pretty pass, to score the pretty goal. The big guns have their back... just go out and play good solid hockey.

1. First and foremost, work their arses off in the defensive zone to keep the opponent off the board.
2. Forget about looking pretty in the offensive end. Keep grinding it out in the corners, throw some shots on net and crash. Get dirty around the net and good things usually happen. It has worked out pretty well for the Smith-Brown-Dyroff line.

Patch cleared to practice fully this week and will be good to go barring a set back in practice, about as healthy as BC is going to be for the rest of the season...

Man, has this been a long time coming. Thank goodness.

Surprised he's been able to build his leg back up so quickly after being in a cast for so long. Atrophy is no joke!

Any update on Hayes? Out of the hospital? Good to go next year?
