Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

AMC Stubs A-List for the win! Seeing Shazam tonight in 3D and got one of the tickets for free. Next week I will see it in a matinee in IMAX cause why not ;) Also next week need to see Pet Semetary and probably Dumbo. (Dumbo cartoon is my favorite of all time so I dont care if every reviewer hated it I will see it)

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

Where are you paying that much for a single ticket? Wowza!

On the coasts and in major cities it gets up to $25/seat for the IMAX or 3D shows. The only IMAX theater in Maine is $18. Luckily my local theaters are $10 or $11.25. But I have MoviePass (yeah, I know but the nearest AMC is 126 miles away) and enough free movies at Regal and Smittys that I won't be paying to see a movie until next year at the least.

Unless I want to pay for the mega screen at my local Marcus, it's $11.50/seat. The mega screen is $15.

I've only done IMAX twice for a non-doc movie, and I don't think I'll do it again any time soon. Once was for Harry Potter #4, which was fun - seeing the snake crawl towards the audience during the opening credits was pretty amazing. The second time was for Dunkirk, and I really didn't like the square movie screen, or the subpar clarity of the image. It certainly wasn't worth the premium ticket price.

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

It depends on the film for me. I would have preferred not to do 3D tonight because I dont much like it but it was the only time that worked for me and the GF. IMAX and 3D are very very hit or miss with me.

Since I can, if it is a movie I enjoy (or one I want AMC to give ticket money too that I cant see) I try to see it in multiple formats to see the difference if it makes sense. I wont do that for all films but something like Shazam I will. There was a definite difference between the formats when I saw Aquaman in part because some of it was shot in IMAX so it worked better that way.

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

I like going to the place with the biggest screen and the most comfortable chairs. GDO Marcus is the best I’ve seen so far. Speedy, but you can get liquor and comfy chairs.

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

Saw Shazam tonight. Pretty good movie. There were some familiar tropes but I found them handled so well and the story was so enjoyable I didn't mind. I had a great time. I also won a Shazam action figure during the giveaway after the movie. Speaking of, there are two post-credits scenes and we were doing the giveaway during the second.

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

Dang, you guys. I don't think I've paid more than $10 anytime recently (although, no, I don't go OUT to see movies that much).

Usually it's about $7-8 tops at Shelard, matinee, weekday. ONCE in a while, if a movie is big enough, they have Sunday 9am or 10am showings at the West End in St Louis Park, where I saw the last Star Wars on opening weekend for about $6. That was awesome.

This is my take also, but I refuse to see any more movies in 3D. I barely tolerated Avatar and I puked during one of the Hobbit movies. I'm not sure what my issue is, but 2D IMAX for me.

Matinees at our local place are 10.25$ on days and 11.95 at night. IMAX is 15.95. On Wednesdays, all regular movie tickets are 8$ and 12.45$ for IMAX.

I should just edit my post, but I'm a post whore. I go when I think there's going to be the least amount of people at a theater that has comfy seats. Screen size isn't a factor.

I saw it too...gf and I both liked it quite a bit. I am a big fan of the character though (read tons of gigs comics over the years) so I was biased. That said it was a spot on interpretation.

Glad you enjoyed it :). How about your Scoob weren't you seeing it tonight?

3D sucks. I can’t understand how anyone enjoys that gimmick.

I have to be very very excited about a movie to go in the early weeks when it is crowded. We did that for Beauty and the Beast (the live action release) and Captain Marvel. I usually push for Tuesdays (I earn "triple points" on my membership card at the theater) and Wednesdays (lower price), but with my wonky schedule, those sometimes are the most convenient day. I usually bring sandwiches and we get popcorn or candy for afterward. I like IMAX for the action/comic book/spectacle movies, but don't care otherwise. I'm not particular about sound.

Our area of NH is late to the game on comfy seating. Our favorite theater got big comfy seats about a year ago (and finally started reserve seating). The IMAX theater went to big comfy seats that recline about 6 months ago (and also reserve seating). I approve of the changes.

And dx, I agree.

I did 3D for The Hobbit and also was sick. Maybe it was just a ****ty movie :D

I reluctantly did 3D for one showing of The Force Awakens because the manager said he would comp my show if I tested the 3D equipment for him. It was fine, but what I found most useful given my hearing impairment is the closed captioning. I was at a fan event for the Planet of the Apes movies and the second and third were in 3D.

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

I've heard certain people have problems with 3D. I never have and have loved it every time I saw a movie in it.

Shazam was a lot of fun.

It makes Dr. Mrs. sick.

I'm legally blind in one eye so it does literally nothing for me except vaguely blur the image. I stay away from it. As Dr. Mrs. says (when I bang my shin for the millionth time) I have never seen in stereo anyway so I'll never know what I'm missing. :p

But being able to hear in stereo, if the difference is anything like that I envy you bi-sighted as-sholes.

The green book - ok. Rush hour remake if set in 60’s
The front runner - if accurate just shows how dense pols are. Ok movie.
