Suck it Internet trolls. James Gunn is back.

Deadline says Marvel never met with any other directors for Guardians 3, so perhaps Marvel head Kevin Feige was hoping this thing would work out in due time. Indeed, the resurfacing of Gunn’s old tweets were promoted via right wing media, no doubt in direct response to Gunn’s constant and vocal criticism of the Trump Administration and the GOP in general. So much of the “outrage” over said tweets was the very definition of a bad faith argument.

I went to Captain Marvel last night - fun movie. You go in knowing the hero wins, so it's all about how they deliver the story from start to finish and Marvel delivered.

Also, the trailer for Tolkien looked very interesting, and I think Long Shot, the romcom movie might have caught my wife's eye (Seth Rogan and Charlize Theron).

As someone who follows the Superhero gossip, I don't know what to make of the James Gunn news...

I'm on record here stating that I thought it was asinine that Gunn was removed from GotG V3... That being said, it's interesting to see that Gunn will finish Suicide Squad 2 before returning to Marvel. It's certainly unprecedented where a director will basically have two different tentpoles for different studios going at the same time. Disney seems to have a "POSSIBLE" flaw in their previously impenetrable Marvel release schedule next May. I do feel that whatever will come next may will be somewhat rushed. Whether that results in a fault remains to be seen. It's uncharted territory and will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Captain Marvel was a fun ride. Great pace, + 2 hours or less and had an awesome Godfather reference!

Captain Marvel. Fine, B. Awesome fun, empty-headed, purely positive, and anodyne. Anybody who gets angry about it is a fool.

The star of the movie is the effects. I think it's the first comic book movie where I was genuinely impressed by the effects. And they were beautiful, not just gee whiz splosions.

That's what you get with Jesse. It's his only character. He gets the "winsome, cute" role, and Michael Cera gets the "conflicted, self-absorbed" role, but they're each half of an actor.

Yeah, does not hold up well (if it ever was good, maybe because I was like 5 then). Best to stick with Raiders and Last Crusade.
