Board Discussion Down?

Re: Board Discussion Down?

Was noticing the same thing. I'm on here practically every day, even during the off ice time, but I don't post much. If I have nothing to contribute, I'll keep my mouth shut and my mind open. When the East gets going, maybe I'll get my 81 year old butt moving. Meanwhile, I'll just enjoy your collective banter and uncanny knowledge.

Re: Board Discussion Down?

For me the past two seasons it's been the family thing. The little bloodsuckers really take it all out of you.
But, be warned, I am back.

For now.

Re: Board Discussion Down?

Oswego, in my humble opinion, has been a great source for info, SUNYAC and beyond, from the hockey lunatics that have frequented that windswept campus. Now the broad-based knowledge of years past is classified. It's only going to hinder new interest in posts, and degrade the quality in what's being posted now.

I completely agree with puxrex's analysis as well - we live in a digital era of instant information and media, from any place, and on any given game in progress, club news, league details, and so on. Sharing posts on here has become the long winded, old fashioned way of talking hockey.

I wish I could have more to contribute to discussions, but I'm a one team guy - if it's not the Lakers that I can watch and analyze, I learn from what the people "in the know" can report with on here for a variety of clubs. And now that's waning away too, it would seem. Expect a lot of typo filled, mediocre postings on here in the future unless something turns - that's what I see coming.

Re: Board Discussion Down?

Kash was the high water mark and it's been a slow recession ever since.

yo puxrexie, help me out here...how come norwich has so many 46 year old frosh?? and i still want berbs91 (yo berbie where ya at?) to tell me how the one kid was able to putt with skates on.

cheers,
kash

I always liked Mr. Landry...despite tangling with him on a few occasions (after all, how else would PointersXRC have turned into XYZ? yo pointersxyz!). I miss him. Always have. :(

I still remember the obit. "In lieu of flowers please send all condolences to the Trinity Rink Fund". True to form to the last...

Edit: And finally, I still say he is responsible for the best post in the history of the DIII board, but maybe Dunning should explain that one... ;)

Re: Board Discussion Down?

XYZ is a referring to a post I made once upon a time when I was younger with purple_and_gold10 where I was upset at something Kash had said and typed up a flame post with some horrendous grammatical errrors. He was very good at getting everybody on tilt and if IIRC he hardly ever needed swearing to do it.

I ended the post with, "Here's a quarter, go buy a clue."

Kash responded with a quote reply and highlighted all my grammatical errors and then said simply said, "Hey purple goldie, keep the quarter and go buy a few vowels.

eom."

Yeah it's certainly up there as one of the all-time best zings on this board.:o

With that being said, I too miss Kash even though I was the butt end of his jokes more often that.

Re: Board Discussion Down?

Well I can say for me, graduating from Oswego finally (After 6 years) and moving to SC and finding a teaching job coupled with coaching football after school doesn't leave me alot of time to look or post anything on here (not that I did a whole lot previously anyway). Not to mention that not being in the 'North' anymore makes it more difficult to keep up with DIII hockey, although I do try my best. But even being on here so infrequently, I do notice less conversation going on than over the past couple years...
