Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

Regarding the labor issues being discussed below: In addition to varying state-by-state, the laws must vary depending on whether you're hourly or salaried, no?
hourly or salary I don't believe it matters in Maine, breaks are required but I've seen quite a few hourly folks work more than 12 and thats a given if you're salary in the retail world

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

After saying I wasn't going to do the Black Friday thing this year, I ended up buying my mom a necklace and an iPad; and for the house a big screen TV with a home theater and an awesome Blu-Ray disk player. You're welcome, economy.

And technically, I didn't do the Black Friday thing because A) I shopped on the Internet and B) it's still Thursday. :D

PS3, GT5 Collector's Edition, and racing wheel purchased. $500 all said and done. Thanks Amazon for free shipping even to AK, and thanks AK for having no sales tax.

It's 29 degrees and sleeting. Must suck to be standing in line.

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

Black Friday is Serious Business

A 21-year-old Middleton woman was arrested Thursday night when she threatened other shoppers while waiting in line at the Toys R Us store, 7309 West Towne Way, which opened for Black Friday shopping at 10 p.m., Madison police reported.

Several hundred shoppers were in line just after 10 p.m., when the woman attempted to move to the front of the line, police said. When she was confronted by other shoppers, she made threats to retrieve a gun and shoot the shoppers.

On Friday Amazon will have limited quantities of the Kindle 2 (i.e. the previous version) on sale for $89. Obviously a somewhat outdated product, but still noteworthy since (from what I've seen) Kindle prices are rarely reduced.
This offer came active at 12:00 noon, ET. The product became waitlisted by 12:01 PM ET. I blinked and missed my chance, I hope you all got yours. Glad I did not wait in the cold for 4 hours this morning to (not) get mine.

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

So I haven't gone into work yet, and I already have customers b*tching about me today... Apparently a family threw a sh*t fit because A) they wanted skis and snowboards for their family and the "expert Ski/Snow board tech" wasn't there to fullfill their needs during the "busy" time of 7am this morning... B) They still bought their stuff and then threw another sh*t fit because I won't be able to mount their skis/bindings today or tomorrow... I guess the last part resulted in them returning all their stuff (probably over $1000 in stuff since this was an entire family) and b*tching out a manager...

So excited to go in at 2pm today  :(

PS3, GT5, and Logitech wheel ordered.

Now to sit around and play NFS Hot Pursuit and Poker Night at the Inventory whilst the plebes try to get themselves killed.

What MORONS buy Ski stuff on Black Friday Morning and expect the store to have them all set ready to hit the slopes before they leave the store?? Honestly, if you needed them that badly, you should have bought them earlier, or bought them at the ski lodge and paid thru the nose to get em all set up there.

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

Okay, I'm impressed. The TV, home theater system and the iPad all arrived today via FedEx. They were scheduled to arrive on Thursday. Ordered on Thursday (a holiday) and delivered (free shipping!) on Monday. Wow.

Too bad the HDMI cables I ordered won't be here 'til later in the week.

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

Hey, nobody threw a shoe at my daughter this time, so it was a relatively calm Black Friday. (Apparently a girl did throw a scarf at her, but it just floated to the floor.)

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

Anyone seen a good deal on a low end-midrange laptop? (Ideally not from Best Buy because they suck.) My mom needs a new one and my sister and I are trying to pick one out for her.

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

I went shopping. I went to O'Reilly's Auto and picked up some floor dry and a new battery for my 4-wheeler. Wasn't all that busy, don't see what the fuss was about.

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

Bought a TV and PS3 on Friday. We didn't think we would get the TV because the ad said there would be at least 5 at each store, and we assumed at least 5 meant 6. Ended up going into the store around noon and walked into a pile of 30 right near the door.

The PS3 is a Christmas present, so that is hidden for the moment. I also think I'm getting GT5 as a gift, so now I just need a steering wheel.

Amazon has a Logitech wheel for $100. Little steep, but it's the best (maybe only) one out there.

Re: Black Friday 2010: Kick, Scream, and Punch Your Way To $avings!

The G27 wheel is by far the best. Retails for $300. I'm hoping there's a deal to be had out there for it.

I picked one up last Friday at Radio Shack of all places...HP 15.6", AMD Athlon II Dual-Core processor, 320 GB hard drive, 3GB of RAM, DVD Burner, built in webcam/mic and windows 7 for $349...I couldn't pass up that deal and b/c the RS I go to is in a shopping plaza with Shaws, i was able to get there 40 minutes before it opened at 5:30 AM and got one of the 2 they had in stock. not sure what the deals are now...yesterday officedepot.com and staples.com had some decent deals, but none as good as this one.

So your wonderful store sent out an e-mail yesterday about 25% off any single item (some exclusions may apply). I went to the site to try to buy something, couldn't figure out how to apply the 25%. Finally found the REALLY small print listing the exclusions - it would have been shorter to list what WASN'T excluded.

I clicked the feedback button and told them what BS their ad is and told them to quit sending me e-mails of BS.:mad::mad::mad:
