BIG / WCHA Challenge - 2015 Great Lakes Invitational

Uh, the large schools (i.e. Michigan, sparty, Minnesota, etc.) were doing the 2-for-1's back when there was a CCHA/previous WCHA... If the rest of college hockey rejects those offers you'll never play us. The larger schools actually make money to support their programs on home hockey games, Lake State/Bowling Green/Ferris St/etc. don't. I'm not sure about your school (NMU) but I don't expect that it's much different. Why should a larger school give up money to go to a smaller rink? For that matter, don't the larger schools give you a percentage of the gate? You most likely make more money on a road trip than playing at home.

Try again.
Actually the smaller schools don't profit from making that second trip. Why should the big school give up home games? Why should the small school give up theirs? They also make money needed to support their programs by playing at home.

Re: BIG / WCHA Challenge - 2015 Great Lakes Invitational

Judging by the crowds so far this season at the Berry, NMU wouldn't be making any profit from home games either.

Oh you mean like when U Mich played at Union with a total capacity under 3000?

I had a UM athletic department staff member tell me at the final CCHA tourney, "everyone want to play at Yost!" In reality, no one gives a rats derrière about playing there. The visitors dressing room/ trainer's area are among the very worst in college hockey,

Instead of paying so much attention and energy on our school, I suspect your school would appreciate the increased attention and energy.

Nothing is going to change from your rants.

Michigan was the worst place to visit as an opposing fan. My 67 year old aunt got grief for wearing an LSSU jersey. She's a Michigan alum, but her nephew's kid was playing for LSSU at the time. She won't be back.

It was a 2-for-1 deal brainiac. Union had already come to Yost twice, this was payback. Wow your Northern idiots are dense. Your utter hate for all things Michigan rivals that of suckeye. I guess that's what happend when you don't get in....

That's the way it worksr for football, sorry you're football team is irrelevant too.

Huh. It looked like you were going to apologize for your mistake, but somehow you managed to turn it into an insult.

Not sure where you came up with the idea that BG doesn't make $ on home games to support the team. We seat 5000 (not that much less than Yost) and had somewhere in the neighborhood of 5300 in attendance for the OSU game last year (unfortunately this year's game with them fell over fall break. What a stupid idea....fall break). Attendance has been rising steadily with the recent success of the program. We won't do a 2 for 1 with any Big 6 team. Besides, the last couple of years it would have hurt our SOS.

Even with fall break, we still had 3000 people in the Madhouse for the OSU game. http://wcha.com/men/boxes16.php?mbgsosu1.o10

I have to disagree a bit. I have been treated quite well by the Michigan fans at Yost every time I go which is several times per year.
The worst experiences I have had as a fan are at the Kohl, by far the worst, and at Mariucci. Mostly it's been pretty good, but I don't wear much in the way of gear, just a hat, though I do cheer very loudly.

JLA didn't open until December 1979. You sure it wasn't the Olympia?

Actually that's not the way it works for football. The schools have an agreed upon dollar amount. For instance, Michigan paid UNLV $1 million to play UNLV Sept 19. That figure was set in stone well before the Rebels ever got on the plane. But never let the facts stand ine way of a good rant. I certainly look forward to visiting your fine town this weekend.
