Big Ten > NCHC

Re: Big Ten > NCHC

I don't buy the production costs argument. They had the (awful) Michigan State webcast on BTN2GoPlus or whatever the hell they call it yesterday. No need for pre or post game. Plug into the Michigan State feed, use their regular announcers and away we go.

My question is, if you aren't going to put it on TV why bother with the horrendous 2 PM Sunday game time? Might as well just play it on Saturday night if you aren't going to air it.
It's not always air time. When did Sparty's football team play on Saturday? The Gopher/Husky game played last night was due to the Gopher/Bucky football game played at 2:30 Saturday.

Football was at home Saturday, that's why it was Sunday. Time wasn't announced until a couple weeks ago, but since it was 3:30 anyway, puck drop probably couldn't have been until 8:30 or 9 to allow traffic to clear out.

Re: Big Ten > NCHC

Did they do these Sunday and Thursday games in the CCHA era? I really don't remember that being an issue for the Gophers prior to the Big 10, although I am cognizant that can sometimes be an issue and that I overlooked it in my post.

I suppose playing football in the dome for all those years alleviated some of the parking/logistical issues, but I just can't get on board with the Sunday games.

Both the Minnesota and Michigan State games were moved because of a home football game that kicked off at 2:30pm.

Re: Big Ten > NCHC

I know at least the last couple years of the CCHA had Thursday-Friday series due to football, one was a conference series with OSU, but I'm pretty sure the others were non-con.

I think part of the issue here is the expanded non-conference for the Big Ten. Back in the day of 28 fixed conference games, you could work with the conference to plan home and away series around basketball/football for the big schools. Now that the Big Ten doesn't start until December, they need to schedule series when they can get them to work around other schools' conference schedules. This year we've had to push three series around for Thursday or Sunday games due to football and basketball.

Re: Big Ten > NCHC

How in the world did the number one ranked nacho team get beaten at home by the worst ever Big Ten team? Talk about overrated choke artists. You deserve to lose your nickname after that.

How in the world did the alleged worst Big Ten team manage to be the ONLY Big Ten team to earn a win and a tie against NCHC teams? Man, the Gophers are absolutely embarrassing. Can't even match the Badgers. No DQ Cup for you. ;):p

Sorry Badger fans, I know you guys are wanting your HC fired and all.

Eaves deserves a contract extension for past results because the current season is irrelevant! Past results are all that matter, dontcha know.

I see Scrooge's generous business partner Morley was kind enough to put 5 points on the goofs this weekend and got his senior citizens discount at dinner before leaving town.

Re: Big Ten > NCHC

Let me know when one of your precious NCHC teams wins a game in the Frozen Four. Winning in October and November is nice, but not as nice as winning in March and April. The NCHC is full of good regular season teams, but being good in the regular season isn't enough to warrant all of the obnoxious boasting that this board has been subjected to ever since those eight schools abandoned the WCHA and CCHA.

The NCHC teams have the most overbearing loudmouth fanbases this side of the New York Yankees. I'm sick and tired of their hateful propaganda and decided that Wisconsin's upset of UND on Friday night provided the best opportunity to give them a dose of their own medicine.

But clearly the NCHC has performed better on the whole since the conferences split and they and the B1G were created, and their updog numbers as well as the records clearly show this.

It must be real hard for ex-Fighting Hawks players knowing they will be forcing an artificial rivalry next year when the two schools play each other. Holmes, the rivalry is dead. Move on to the Huskies and Pioneers.

Re: Big Ten > NCHC

The rivalry isn't dead. Some people want it to be because they either hate the other team too much or are trying to get under someone else's skin.

We have no choice. Aside from the fact that the gophers are easier wins than the Huskies and Pios, I miss playing them and I always will.

Very true. UConn and Sacred Heart are tough games.
