Big Ten Hockey Conference Pt III - Revenge of the Sith.

Re: Big Ten Hockey Conference Pt III - Revenge of the Sith.

I wish I had a dollar for each time 4four4 was wrong. :)

But truth be told, that's why I love him. He's almost always wrong but continues his sthtick day after day oblivious to the changing landscape.

I bet there are plenty of people who didn't see this new conference come around. Also, go back and see who leaked some juicy rumors that became correct in the Minnesota threads. ;)

I enjoy USCHO do I believe every word I say? Hell no. It is more for me to entertain myself and have fun bugging UND, DU, WI fans. I know it is a sad life but somebody has to do it between changing diapers and heading to the Urgent care. It is all in good fun :)

I still hope the kid pees on you. ;)

And all of you are fooling yourself if you think the X won't make a play for the Big Ten Tourny if/when they leave the campuses. Top of the line corporate sponsors, guaranteed ticket sales, higher prices and brand name schools. Plus local interest which helps too.
Excuse my ignorance as I haven't followed this thread for awhile and too many pages now to re-read but didn't I hear correctly the conference say when they announced it's formation that the playoff game would be in Chicago or was that just a possible location? If so, I'd say that spot was selected to accommodate the Wisconsin and Minnesota fans more so than others.

Big Ten tournament will be hosted by the top seed for at least the first season of the B1GMistakeHC

Re: Big Ten Hockey Conference Pt III - Revenge of the Sith.

A random thought that popped into my head a couple days ago:
Will MSU and UM keep their annual game at Joe Louis, or will they go to playing two at Munn and Yost each year?

I figure they would keep it, but then this brought me to another thought:

Would the Big Ten try using a neutral site rivalry game throughout the rest of the conference?
MSU and UM at JLA
Ohio State and Penn State in Pittsburgh
Wiscy and Minny is the tough one. There's not a centrally located area. The best I could come up with was to alternate between Xcel and the Bradley Center.

Then I thought of expanding the conference season to 25 games so there would be 2 home games, 2 away games and a neutral site game against each team, but that's an awful idea, because a Minnesota-PSU game in Chicago would probably draw horribly. The only way I could see that working would be if the B1G held a pre-season conference "tournament" somewhere (like Chicago) that would just be a round robin format.

And then if the NCHC stays at six there could always be a NCHC-B1G Challenge.

Anyway, I'll stop now before I come up with any more wacky ideas.
