Big Ten 2015-2016

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

Okay, maybe this belongs in a different thread (as it could also relate to the idea of replacing the four regionals with two 'Super Regionals'), but how would it work, logistically speaking, if we wanted to share the X with the NCHC or WCHA for a conference tourney?

Obviously, it'd be easier if we didn't have two quarterfinal games to deal with and just had the two semis and a finals, but could that work? I have a hard time believing so, considering how many early Thursday/Friday games you would need and attendance would still suck there. But maybe the Saturday sessions could still have a bit of the old WCHA F5 feel to them?

That could actually really be cool if you could get each league's tourney to 4 teams. Two games from one league on Thursday, two from the other on Friday, two championship games on Saturday. I'd buy tickets for that (but I'm going anyway)

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

You would think that if they gave a crap about hockey, they would at least have an intern plug in the team names before the DQ tailgate started

Well, the DQ tailgate is in no way affiliated in any official capacity with any entity, so that's why they don't care (and probably don't even know about the tailgate in the first place).

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

I just thought I would point out that there are no MU teams in the B1G, only in other conferences. There are two UM teams though. One was founded in 1817 while the other was founded in 1851. If you want to abbreviate with two letters might I suggest UM (aka U of Michigan). and tU (aka The U or U of Minnesota). Otherwise, I would suggest refraining from using UM as too many schools use it (three in DI hockey I believe and more throughout the NCAA).

I like MU. I think everyone here should use it.

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

Being that Minnesota has an ag school and Michigan does not, then MU for Minnesota works perfectly. Thanks for suggesting it! :)

How is it possible to have 3 hobey guys on one line, and still not win the regular season?

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

PSU over UW: 4-1
OSU over MSU: 5-2
MU over PSU: 3-2
UM over OSU: 4-3 OT
MU over UM: 3-1 ENG :(

Ah, poor Michigan butthurt fan neg repped me for this post. Spouted some drivel about Miami. Most of you guys are ok, apparently the concept of a friendly rivalry and poking fun is too advanced for some Wolverines. :D

Oh, and they said these were terrible predictions. Lookit here smartass, if you think you are smart, why not post some of your own?

Those Hobey guys are great at putting the puck in the back of the net (72 goals between them). The team isn't great at keeping the puck out of our own net.

The regular season championship in the B1G came down to who played the best full 65 minutes. The OT loss to MN hurt Michigan. Beyond that, Minnesota had 4 OT wins (3 against OSU, 1 against Michigan) while Michigan had 3 OT losses (1 each against MN, MSU & OSU).

Aw, look, some butthurt goofer fan is whining about rep. Apparently they can't handle a friendly rivalry, or they care about rep, either way :D

Awww... another butthurt MI fan whining about a Gopher fan's post because it mentioned Michigan. Maybe you guys are becoming obsessed with us and angling to be the new *** Hawks fans instead of being able to handle a friendly rivalry. :D

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

I do. I know you can't win the NCAA with your goalie.

If you knew, why did you ask?

Just as important, why does it matter to you? Seems like at this point, your team needs your support more than whatever you are pretending to do.

Funny, I don't remember anyone talking about Miami. If you are referring to the UM vs MU comment, I honestly though you didn't know the difference as I hadn't seen you do it before. As for friendly banter, I'm all for it.

I don't remember anyone criticizing the predictions but I might have missed it. As for predictions that you can later use for fodder:

UW over PSU: 3-2 (OT)
OSU over MSU: 3-1
UMI over UW: 5-4 (OT)
OSU over UMN: 4-3
OSU over UMI: 6-4

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

My odds of who takes it:

Michigan - 40% (1st round bye)
Minnesota - 25% (1st round bye)
Ohio State - 15%
Penn State - 10%
Michigan State - 5%
Wisconsin - 5%

Re: Big Ten 2015-2016

Not sure how to take that one. The "we want Shegos" cheer was supposed to be an insult to the ref, since the Shegos brothers were terrible refs. Now they are one of the better ones? What a deep hole we have fallen into.

They were not that bad compared to Rutherford, Jackson and my all time favorite, Wilkins.
