Bemidji at UND - No one cares?????

Re: Bemidji at UND - No one cares?????

I'm a little ****ed that I apparently have the only TV system (Dish Network) that won't get the games:

Fighting Sioux Sports Network
Midco Sports Network
Fox College Sports (Atlantic Sat, Pacific Sun)
WDAZ/WDAY (Sat)

Nope - looks like I should have stuck with Midco, PBTV or gone with DirecTV... Guess I'll end up at (insert local eating/drinking establishment) Saturday to watch before HS hockey, and maybe make it over Sunday.

Re: Bemidji at UND - No one cares?????

I don't know what to think about this weekend series. I not really crazy about the games being on Saturday and Sunday but if the Sioux win both games they will win the cup. The cup as of late has been an anchor I think the last three winners lost their opening game in the NCAA tourney. Can we give it to DU or UNO? I am saying this tonge in cheek.

Normally I don't like the Sat/Sun games either, but this weekend I do. I think there is a pretty decent likelihood UND will have a chance to clinch, and it would be nice to know that when the game starts.

I think first place is really important for the Sioux this year, for a couple of reasons. First is the opportunity to play Tech in the first round. As Tech showed last week, they are capable of winning any game, but notwithstanding that, they are far and away the easiest first round match up.

Get to the Final 5, win at least the first game, and I like our chances to get back to St. Paul in April.

The nonsense about some sort of jinx on the Cup winners is silly. Candidly, I've said now for a couple of years that any gap between the WCHA and the rest of college hockey has disappeared, or at least narrowed substantially, and the days when a DU can look past the AHA winner, when a WCHA team can go into the home rink of an opponent and expect an NCAA victory, or expect easy sailing on your own home ice as CC did, has long since passed. Every WCHA team, including the winner of the Mac, better be ready to play every game in the tournament this year.

If UND wins the Mac or the Broadmoor I would be happy with them not touching either trophy until the season is over, call me superstitious but the only trophy I want them to touch is #8.

Not Me. Enjoy the trophy and the accomplishment. You need to celebrate your accomplishments. Gophers tried this and oops out of the NCAAs so they and their fans didn't get to celebrate. Number 8 will be hard enough without throwing that monkey on the back of the players.

The Fox College Sports guide on their website shows Pacific on Saturday and Atlantic on Sunday.

Re: Bemidji at UND - No one cares?????

Sat/Sun is an interesting wrinkle for both teams. Bemidji has played much better on Saturdays, probably due to being the second game while UND will have an eye on other scores. Would like to see the Beavers get a nice signature win but I doubt it's going to happen at this point in the season where the Sioux may be able to clinch. Hoping for two entertaining and injury free games.

Re: Bemidji at UND - No one cares?????

With an outright win of the WCHA, the Sioux would close their season and open the tourny season against the same team, as they have done in the past. Tech has taken the Sioux to several game threes in the past decade if memory serves. I'm just glad they got the losing monkey off their back against Denver, otherwise they'd have even more to play for.

That's the downside with DISH. On the plus side, you should be calling a good Bemidji/Brainerd game Sat night.

Re: Bemidji at UND - No one cares?????

BSU took seven of eight points from UNO and UNO smoked UND at the Ralph.

And UND made taking four of four points from BSU in Bemidji look easy. :p What's your point? :D

While thebrain's point is specious at best, taking 4 pts. in Oct. was hardly "easy," and apparently willy didn't even read his link (or at least forgot watching the game referenced).

To refresh - yes, the Friday game was very one-sided. "Easy," if you will. Saturday? Hardly. From willy's linked article, BSU lead early (2-1 until their were 5 minutes left in the second, in fact), and if you look at the box score, it was just 3-2 UND until there was 1:30 left in the game. At that time, BSU was pressuring for the tying goal (and getting some good chances), when they gave up a partial break-away to Matt Frattin. Down 4-2, BSU still pulled Bakala, and promptly gave up an ENG. I guess we have different definitions of easy...

What's my point? All three of you are wrong. Anyone who looks at a match-up and says, "well, UND is playing the 9th place team, they should sweep easily," is out of your mind. Why do you think Denver lost a game to Tech last weekend? How 'bout because every team in the league is pretty darn good? WCHA fans go around touting how deep the conference is, then bash the last-place teams, or even the 9, 10 and 11th place teams. I understand trash-talking, but good god, use common sense too.

How was I wrong? I never said that we had an easy time time with BSU only that we swept... my post was to respond to someone who was comparing their record to someone who had beat the Sioux. Meanwhile conveniently leaving out that we already had beat them already this year in their own barn. I was at both of those games so I didn't have to read the article to know how close Saturdays game was...

Re: Bemidji at UND - No one cares?????

That I have no idea what you're going to get out of BSU and UND is beatable.
Point clarified and agreed with :)

The :p and :D in my post blew right past your defective sarcasim meter. My post was intended to needle thebrain. He responded to it much better than you did. :p

You also apparently didn't read my other posts where I basically told other UND fans that I would like to see, but don't assume, a UND sweep.
