Re: Beantown Women's Classic July 23-27
Looked at the schedule and decided to do some math....(That is the engineer in me).
Round robin games
131 Round robin games at Marlborough, 145 Round Robin games at other venues.
131 RR games at Marlboro:
- 70 AAA RR games (72 teams, 108 RR games)
- 26 College RR games (28 teams, 42 RR games)
- 15 AA RR games (24 teams)
- 20 Other RR games (60 teams)
This math suggest that in proportion to the amount of teams, both College and AAA got treated evenly, ~60% of their RR games at Marlborough.
Percentage was lot less for the other divisions, ~40% for AA, ~25% for younger groups.
In addition ALL the A-playoffs for College Division were at the main venue.
Total number of college games including playoffs was 66. 42 of those were at the main facility. That 42 includes 16 playoffs games, all the A-Playoffs (15) and the B-Final. Note that overall there were 443 games, 276 round robin games and 167 playoff games. That is a massive undertaking.
My point.....I don't think you can say the College division got an unfair shake......
.....On Friday at least, the weighting for college teams playing at the main rink appeared to be towards NWHL teams... My guess is that was for a good reason (tryouts)...Would not be surprise if that came at the sacrifice of some other teams in that division not facing the NWHL teams playing at other venues....I know several versions of the schedule were posted leading up to the tourney....presumably to take care of some changes and requests....If a tourney of that scale was to cater to the needs of every individual request the schedule would be done by Christmas....knowing Kelly he tries to accommodate as much as he can....If a tourney of that scale was to cater to the needs of every individual request the schedule would be done by Christmas.....
Sorry for the ramble......
okay but 1 game? it was 1 game. there were 5 other games that played at the same time in other rinks that included players that scouts would have to drive to see. 1 game with the best players in the world (RBK)
they couldn't find room for 1 hour? there's no explanation other than they "missed it".
