Beantown Women's Classic July 23-27

Re: Beantown Women's Classic July 23-27

okay but 1 game? it was 1 game. there were 5 other games that played at the same time in other rinks that included players that scouts would have to drive to see. 1 game with the best players in the world (RBK)
they couldn't find room for 1 hour? there's no explanation other than they "missed it".

Looked at the schedule and decided to do some math....(That is the engineer in me).

Round robin games
131 Round robin games at Marlborough, 145 Round Robin games at other venues.
131 RR games at Marlboro:
- 70 AAA RR games (72 teams, 108 RR games)
- 26 College RR games (28 teams, 42 RR games)
- 15 AA RR games (24 teams)
- 20 Other RR games (60 teams)

This math suggest that in proportion to the amount of teams, both College and AAA got treated evenly, ~60% of their RR games at Marlborough.
Percentage was lot less for the other divisions, ~40% for AA, ~25% for younger groups.

In addition ALL the A-playoffs for College Division were at the main venue.

Total number of college games including playoffs was 66. 42 of those were at the main facility. That 42 includes 16 playoffs games, all the A-Playoffs (15) and the B-Final. Note that overall there were 443 games, 276 round robin games and 167 playoff games. That is a massive undertaking.

My point.....I don't think you can say the College division got an unfair shake......

.....On Friday at least, the weighting for college teams playing at the main rink appeared to be towards NWHL teams... My guess is that was for a good reason (tryouts)...Would not be surprise if that came at the sacrifice of some other teams in that division not facing the NWHL teams playing at other venues....I know several versions of the schedule were posted leading up to the tourney....presumably to take care of some changes and requests....If a tourney of that scale was to cater to the needs of every individual request the schedule would be done by Christmas....knowing Kelly he tries to accommodate as much as he can....If a tourney of that scale was to cater to the needs of every individual request the schedule would be done by Christmas.....

Sorry for the ramble......

you couldn't be more wrong. I wasn't talking about BC/national friends...and she didn't even play so I don't know where you're going on that one. I was talking about one specific team that is full of Olympians. Olympians. Players at the top of their game in the sport...to not "showcase" them in Marlboro is a shame. you cant see that? if self focused is wanting Olympians to play in front of as many people as possible than I guess I am.

as for the coaches not wanting their kids to play, wrong.

Not sure your complaint is valid. I saw the Olympians play at NESC-Marlboro during round-robin and saw plenty of kids getting pics and talking with them. All you had to do was look at the schedule to figure out when they were taking the ice. The kids loved it.

Looking at this from the top teams perspective....Lets look at the schedules of the four teams that ended up as top four in the tourney:

Code:
Div	Date Time Rink Gm	Cat Team Opponent
6	Jul-24	12:50 PM	NESC-2 50	RR1 - Coll.	Jets vs.	Healthy Scratches
6	Jul-24 8:50 PM	NESC-2	125	RR2 - Coll.	Jets vs.	GEK
6	Jul-25	12:30 PM	Natick	188	RR3 - Coll.	Jets vs. Team Peeve
6	Jul-24	12:00 PM	NESC-3 43	RR1 - Coll.	NWHL One vs.	No Regretzkies
6	Jul-24 6:40 PM	NESC-3	105	RR2 - Coll.	NWHL One vs. Seahawks
6	Jul-25	11:10 AM	Lake 172	RR3 - Coll.	NWHL One vs. Goal Diggers
6	Jul-24 1:20 PM	NESC-3 54	RR1 - Coll.	NWHL Three vs.	GEK
6	Jul-24 8:00 PM	NESC-3	118	RR2 - Coll.	NWHL Three vs.	Eagles (Layo)
6	Jul-25 1:50 PM	Lake 202	RR3 - Coll.	NWHL Three vs.	Healthy Scratches
6	Jul-24 1:00 PM	NESC-1 51	RR1 - Coll.	Team RBK vs.	Goal Diggers
6	Jul-24 8:30 PM	NS-C 123	RR3 - Coll.	Team RBK vs.	No Regretzkies
6	Jul-25	11:10 AM	Frankl	171	RR3 - Coll.	Team RBK vs.	Team Celine

These four teams plays 7 of their 12 round robin games at Marlboro AND each played 3 or 4 more games at Marlboro for the playoffs.

Team RBK played 5 of their 7 games at Marlboro
NWHL One played 6 of their 7 games at Marlboro
NWHL Three played 5 of their 6 games at Marlboro
Jets played played 5 of their 6 games at Markboro
That adds up to 21 of 26 games by the top four teams at Marlboro

I don't think I'd want Tony knowing where I live.
Given CrazyDave has the foresight to carry a special hat trick hat, he probably also has a special address that he gives out to the Tony's of the world. :p

You'd be wise given what came across my FB wire this morning: Those in the west better be aware. :D :D

Huh....so not only is Ted self-focused, he is dead wrong. Read the schedule next year Ted.

Re: Beantown Women's Classic July 23-27

I have had a couple college coaches from top local schools say that they don't really scout it anymore because its gotten too big and diluted. I'm sure there are still plenty of schools there but as people have said below, its not what it used to be. There are better, smaller showcases out there that the schools prefer to attend.

LOL...that's too funny.....Kelly must knott know what he's doing...I think you may be confusing this with the Chowderless Cup circa 2010.

33, I could care less about the schedule or any college teams. it's the RBK team...for the 5th time. RBK. not Celine( Harvard) BC, Union or anyone. the number of games played by college teams in Marlboro is irrelevant to my argument. self-focused...listen to you. my kid DIDNT play. I wasn't bitc#ing about BC or any college teams. what are you talking about?

I sincerely apologize if I upset anyone on this board. I hope you find I in your hearts to forgive me for stating an opinion. i'll try harder to conform with the posting rules going forward. i'll try not to upset the long standing members of the forum. I meant no disrespect. please accept my apologies.

Silly, silly, silly Ted...you will soon learn that some of the Jackholes on here like '33 Brain cells' like to spout off to make themselves feel good... Sort of a mutual masturbation society....Just ignore them like everyone else does.

You advise to ignore...but just to be clear since you included everyone else, are we supposed to ignore after we take a pot shot at a poster like you just did?

Yes - we all get it Ted - RBK. According to OnMAA, they played 5 of their 7 games in Marlboro - clearly if someone wanted to see them there they had plenty of opportunity - so move along. You have obviously no concept of what a showcase tournament is really for (probably because Katie didn't need one).
